WAYNE LEE BRININGER

Wayne Lee Brininger, age 65 of Devils Lake, ND passed away on Saturday, June 29 at home surrounded by his loving family. Wayne Brininger was born February 14, 1948 in Devils Lake, ND, the son of Earl and Florence (Doyle) Brininger. He graduated from Sheyenne High School in 1966. After graduation he attended UND for two years and worked as a land surveyor in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico. Wayne was married to Jeannie Houle in 1969, and together they had a son (Wayne Jr). Wayne served in the Army from 1970 to 1972, and was stationed in California and served as an Army specialist in Vietnam. After returning to Devils Lake, Wayne served in the National Guard and worked for the Nekoma Missile Base and then Burlington Northern Santa Fe for over thirty years until his retirement in 2005. Wayne married his long time companion and love, Karen Mohn in 2001. Wayne was a loving father, husband and grandfather, always putting others first. He truly enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Wayne's passion was hunting and he enjoyed hunting all kinds of game from birds to big game animals. He made several trips to Africa hunting a variety of game including leopard, elephant, cape buffalo and many other species. Wayne had a small hobby farm raising exotic animals such as deer, llamas, arctic fox and yak until his retirement. He was also an avid bird watcher. Wayne was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Devils Lake. He was also a member of Safari Club International. Wayne is survived by his wife Karen of Devils Lake, son, Wayne (Cecilia) Brininger of Detroit Lakes, MN, mother, Florence of Devils Lake, sister, Darlene Zettler of Devils Lake, brother, Lester (Janice) Brininger of Kalispell, MT. Stepchildren, Shane (Carmen) Mohn of Grafton, ND, Kendalyn Momerak of Bagley, MN, Clark (Sherri) Erickson of West Fargo, ND. Grandchildren, Sydney and Abby Brininger, Marlee Mohn, McKenzie Momerak, Connor and Chase Erickson. Also good friends Leatha and Jeff (Jacob, Hannah, Issac and Rachel) Vaagen of Devils Lake, and Thor and Joanne Thompson of Brocket, ND. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Wayne was preceded in death by his father Earl Brininger. Mass of the Resurrection will be held Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at 10:00 am at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Devils Lake, ND. with Fr. C.F. Wilhelm celebrating the Mass. Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 2, 2013 from 5 to 7 pm with a Rosary and Scripture Service at 7 pm at Gilbertson Funeral Home in Devils Lake, ND. Military Honors will be accorded by the Neathery-Simensen Post #756, Devils Lake Veterans of Foreign Wars and the North Dakota Military Funeral Honors Team.
