ARNOLD W. INGULSRUD

Arnold W. Ingulsrud died peacefully in Mesa, AZ on Wednesday, July 10, 2013. He farmed in the Hampden/Edmore area and was 87 years old. Funeral Services for Arnold will held on Thursday, July 18, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. at Zoar Free Lutheran Church, Hampden, ND with Rev. Craig Wentzel officiating. Burial will be in the Storlie Cemetery, Hampden. Military Honors will be accorded by the Neathery-Simensen Post #756, Devils Lake Veterans of Foreign Wars and the North Dakota Military Funeral Honors Team. Visitation will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Wednesday, July 17th from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation on Thursday will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral service. Casket Bearers will be Arnold’s nephews, Jeffery Hermanson, Daniel Hermanson, Steven Hermanson, Brian Herman, Roger Schanz and David Schanz. Special music will be provided by Art Rude Jr. There will also be Congregational Hymns with Joni Haglin, pianist. Arnold William Ingulsrud and his twin sister, Ann, were born on December 24, 1925 to Lars and Gina (Froyland) Ingulsrud on the family farm in Prospect Township. Arnold attended Edmore High School and Park River Agricultural School prior to his military service in the Army from 1945 to 1947. He worked in the Army Finance Office while serving in Japan. He and Betty Grace Marion Hermanson were married November 2, 1952. They lived in California the first year of their marriage and Arnold worked at Boeing Aircraft. They were the parents of two children Vickie Ann married to Gene Froehlich of Kenyon, MN and Karl Lars Ingulsrud of Edmore. Arnold and Betty farmed for many years just two miles northeast of the home farm. Arnold was the treasurer of the Prospect School Board. He also served on the Derrick Farmers Elevator Board, the Prospect Township Board (served as president for many years) and the Ramsey County Farmers Union Board. He was involved with the church as a Sunday School teacher and served on the search committee for several years and was the spiritual leader for his family. Arnold had an engineering mind and often came up with creative solutions to problems or a better way of doing things. Both he and Betty enjoyed collecting antiques and he loved showing his collections to visitors. He loved to play cards, dance, write poems and to laugh. Betty passed away after a long bout with cancer on May 8, 1992 and is buried at the Storlie Cemetery, Hampden. On June 19, 1995, Arnold married Myriam Williams of Rapid City, SD. They for many years spent the summers on the farm and winters in Mesa, AZ, but recently Mesa year round. Myriam is like an angel to the family and Vickie and Karl both appreciate the companionship and care she gave to their father. Arnold leaves to mourn, his wife Myriam, children Vickie (Gene)Froehlich and Karl Ingulsdrud; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren, Melissa (Eric) Keller and children, Ethan, Elijah, Ainsley and Avonlea; Andrea Froehlich; Kayla Froehlich and son, Jackson; Michael Froehlich and Sarah Froehlich. He is also survived by his brother, Franklin Ingulsrud of Fargo, ND, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and many nieces and nephews. Preceding him from this life were his wife Betty; his parents; brothers Odin, Lars Milo, George and Ole and sisters Bertha Rude, Ann Odegard and Maida Zieske.
