AUGUST PFEIFER

August Pfeifer, 85, Devils Lake, ND died Sunday, August 11, 2013 at the Good Samaritan Society Home, Devils Lake, ND. August was born December 7, 1927 near Wellsburg, ND to Sebastian and Veronica (Thomas) Pfeifer. He married Irene Koble on October 22, 1952 at St. Margaret Catholic Church in Drake, ND. He farmed his parents’ farm with his brother Albert until 1963. In 1964, August and Irene purchased a farm north of Minnewaukan, where they lived, farmed and raised their family. August was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Minnewaukan. He served on the Parish Council, the Building Committee and St. James Cemetery Board. He served as secretary and treasurer for the cemetery board for 30 years. In 2004, August and Irene moved to Devils Lake and became members of St. Joseph Catholic Church. August is survived by his wife Irene of 60 years; his children: Leon (Rhoda) Pfeifer, Minnewaukan, Marvin Pfeifer, Bismarck, Randall (Brenda) Pfeifer, Minnewaukan, Marlene Pfeifer, West Fargo, Darnell (Todd) Hering, Waterville, MN and Reney (Terry) Huffman, Horace. ND; 8 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, five step grandchildren, 5 step great grandchildren; one brother, Henry (Anne) Pfeifer, Esmond; three sisters, Irene Senger, Yakima, WA, Theresia (Albion) Hoffner, Devils Lake and Lydia Muscha, West Fargo and many nephews and nieces. August was preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters-in-law, Casper and Magdalena Pfeifer, Fabian and Genevieve Pfeifer, Albert Pfeifer and two infant brothers; brothers-in-law Conrad Senger and Paul Muscha. Serving as Casket Bearers for August will be his grandsons, Jason Pfeifer, Derek Pfeifer, Kyle Huffman, Jacob Pfeifer, Michael Tufte and Mitchel Tufte. Reading the Scriptures will be Vern Musha and the Gift Bearers will be August’s granddaughters, Cassandra Huffman, Aleshia Huffman, Jenny Hering and Janet Hering. Music will be provided by Patty Cote. VISITATION: At the Gilbertson Funeral Home in Devils Lake on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with Rosary and Scripture service at 7 PM. Visitation on Friday will be in the Mother Theresa Hall of St. Joseph Catholic Church one hour prior to the funeral Mass. Mass of Christian Burial: 10:00 AM Friday, August 16, 2013 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Devils Lake with Fr. C.F. Wilhelm celebrating the Mass.
