Lenore J. Foss, 86 of Rolette, ND passed away on Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at Trinity Medical Center in Minot, ND.
Funeral Services for Lenore will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Valle Lutheran Church, Rolette with Pastor Eugene Wilson officiating. Burial will be in the Willow Creek Cemetery, rural Overly, ND.
Visitation will be held at the Valle Lutheran Church on Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Time of Remembrance at 7:00 p.m. Visitation on Saturday will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral service.
Serving as Casket Bearers for Lenore will be Jarrett Foss, Joshua Foss, Jeremy McKeown, Nick Foss, Kelly Westby and Ross Sivertson. Honorary Bearers are all of Lenore’s nephews. Special Music will be provided by Melodie Slocomb and LaVonne Ivey, Organist.
Lenore June, daughter of Vern F. and Irene M. (Stiles) Gable was born on June 18, 1927 at Rolette, ND. She grew up on the family farms in the Rolette area and attended elementary school at the Dewey also the Wolf Creek Township Schools. Lenore graduated from Rolette High School and continued her education, receiving her teaching certificate. She taught one year at the Dewey Township School, the school she once attended.
Lenore was united in marriage to Arthur Foss on May 31, 1946. They made rural Rolette their home, where they lived, farmed and ranched and raised their family through the years. Lenore worked at the Rolette Hospital and also at R&O Contractors for several years. She was a member of Willow Creek Lutheran Church in Overly, ND and later a member of Valle Lutheran Church, Rolette. Lenore has made the Parkview Care Center in Rolla her home since 2010.
Lenore loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. And any of those times together were made even better if the family was playing cards or games together. She enjoyed doing puzzles and was a Minnesota Twins fan. Lenore and Art were very active in the community and watching their family, friends and neighbors participating in local activities and sports, especially those summer evening baseball games. A great day for Lenore, was one spent with family and friends sharing good times, good conversation and a good cup of coffee.
Lenore’s legacy was that of a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and an always caring about others before herself attitude. Her over 50 year battle with multiple sclerosis was a non-issue in every aspect of Lenore’s life. She never let it hold her back or keep her from doing what she wanted to do. May she now rest in God’s everlasting peace.
Lenore is survived by her loving family. Her five sons, Bruce and Cheryl Foss of Rolette, Paul and Holly Foss also of Rolette, Duane and Carol Foss of Rolla, ND, Glen and Denise Foss and Danny and Wanda Foss all of Rolette; grandchildren, Jarrett Foss, Melodie (Matt) Slocomb, Joshua Foss and Nick (Sarah) Foss; step grandchildren, Brock (Angie) Kavlie and Jeremy McKeown; great grandchildren, Adam Gustafson, Rhiannon Foss, Natalie Slocomb and Jude Slocomb; step great grandchildren, Lexi, Brooklyn and Zoe Kavlie; sisters, Jeannine Westby of Cando, ND and Coleen Sivertson of Bottineau, ND; sister-in-law, Mabel Armstrong of Rolette and many nieces and nephews and their families.
Lenore was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Art on October 9, 2009; infant daughter, Brenda and sister, Donna Cote.
