Rosemary Wold, 80 of Starkweather, ND passed away on Thursday, September 12, 2013 at Mercy Hospital, Devils Lake.
Mass of the Resurrection for Rosemary will be held on Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Assumption of Mary Catholic Church, Starkweather with burial in the Assumption of Mary Cemetery, rural Starkweather.
Visitation will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Monday, September 16th from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and at Assumption of Mary Church in Starkweather from 5:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary and Scripture Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation on Tuesday will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral Mass.
Rosemary, daughter of Max V. and Florence B. (Haggarty) Griggs was born on August 15, 1933 at East Grand Forks, Minnesota. She grew-up and was educated in the Reynolds, ND area and attended a one-room school and Reynolds High School.
Rosemary worked at the First National Bank in East Grand Forks and met the love of her life, Donald Wold at a bank Christmas Party. They were united in marriage on December 29, 1962 at Reynolds. In December of 2012, Rosemary and Donald celebrated 50 blessed years together.
After their marriage, they established their home in Starkweather were they lived, worked and raised their family their entire married life. For the past 24 years, Rosemary and Don spent their winters in Arizona. Rosemary had many friends and she enjoyed visiting with them all on her rounds with her golf cart.
Rosemary was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Assumption of Mary Catholic Church, the Altar Society and served in many capacities within the church, Altar Society and on the church council. Throughout the years, Rosemary has dedicated herself to the church and its upkeep and décor. To her family, Rosemary was such a wonderful example of a loving and caring heart with a lot of patience. She encouraged her family to pray the Rosary daily and to pray often to the Holy Spirit for guidance.
Rosemary loved spending time in her flower garden, watching Westerns with Donald and Wheel of Fortune. All close family members knew “never to call during the Wheel”. Rosemary was very close to her sisters and admired so many qualities in them. She cherished her grandchildren and kept up with their many activities and events and kept them all in her daily prayers. She also enjoyed membership in the Bunco Club for over 30 years.
Rosemary is survived by her beloved family. Her husband of over 50 years, Donald; son, John Wold and his wife, Gretchen of Eagle River, Alaska; daughter Mary Wold of Devils Lake and son Mark Wold and his wife Joni and their children and Rosemary’s grandchildren, Ashton and Seth all of Devils Lake; brother, Larry (Ellen) Griggs of Grand Forks; sisters, Maxine Erickstad of Starkweather and Patricia Griggs also of Grand Forks; sister-in-law, Kathleen Pusch of Austin, MN; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Rosemary was preceded in death by her parents; brother Lew and his wife Pat Griggs.
Serving as Casket Bearers for Rosemary will be her nephews, Craig, Kevin, Gary and Jason Erickstad.
Music will be provided by Dennis J. Dockter, Maureen Bertsch and Audrey Myklebust.
