Marie K. Timm, 93 of Devils Lake formerly of the Clyde/Hampden area of North Dakota passed away early Wednesday morning, September 25, 2013 at the Good Samaritan Center, Devils Lake. Mass of Resurrection for Marie will be held on Thursday, October 3, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Devils Lake with Fr. C.F. Wilhelm celebrating the Mass. Burial will be in the Egeland Union Cemetery, Egeland, North Dakota. Visitation will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Wednesday, October 2nd from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary and Scripture Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation on Thursday will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral Mass. Marie Kate, daughter of Pete and Catherine (Worm) Gartner was born in Clyde, ND and raised in the Clyde/Munich area. She was a member of the Catholic Church and then joined the Lutheran Church after her marriage. Marie was united in marriage to Henry H. Timm on June 25, 1938. Their farm was located northeast of Egeland. She was a farmer’s wife, homemaker, and mother. Marie did house cleaning and painting for area women when they were on the farm and she and Henry worked side by side and raised their six children. They moved to Hampden and ran the café there for a few years. Marie soon became known for her delicious pies and doughnuts. She and Henry moved back to the farm for a short time but returned to Hampden in 1974 where they lived until 1983. While in Hampden, she did volunteer work for RSVP and worked for the Green Thumb Program. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Homemaker’s Club, Bonco Club, Ladies Aide and American Legion Auxiliary. Marie enjoyed friends and family tremendously. When Henry entered the nursing home in 1984, Marie moved to Langdon. While in Langdon, Marie returned to the Catholic Church and in 1992 moved to Devils Lake where she resided at the time of her death. Henry passed away on November 30, 1984. In Devils Lake, she was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and a Foster Grandma at the Memorial Day Care. When she retired from Memorial Day Care, she kept busy doing volunteer work serving meals for the Senior Citizen Meals on Wheels. While in Devils Lake, she lived in the Great Northern Apartments, Skyview Apartments and most recently the Odd Fellows Home. She spent the last two months at the Heartland Care Center. Marie enjoyed crocheting, sewing, some quilting and various other crafts throughout her life. She was a wonderful cook and always wanted to feed people. She was a very generous and loving person. She was very involved with and devoted to her family. Her kids were very important to her and her to them. She will be sorely missed, but left behind many wonderful memories. Marie is survived by her precious family. Her children, Leona “Toots” Tohm of Hereford, TX, Michael “Butch” (Arlene “Daisy”) Timm of Garrison, MN, June “Dolly” Timm of SeaTac, WA, Sherry (Duane) Mann of Grand Forks, ND and Marge (Tom) Hoffarth of Devils Lake; daughter-in-law Marilyn Timm of Minnesota; thirteen grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren; Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Henry; daughter in infancy, Carol Ann; son Kenny Timm; son-in-law Marvin Tohm and all of her siblings. Serving as Casket Bearers for Marie will be Duane Mann, Christopher Mann, Tom Hoffarth, Karl Krogfoss, Glenn Lannoye and Khalin Dendy. reading the Scriptures will be Duane Mann and presenting the offertory gifts will be granddaughters Katie Brennan, Jerri Mann, Tina Dendy, Jessica Hoffarth and Leann Ohlson.
