WAYNE C. FEE

On October 6, 2013, Wayne C. Fee a husband, father, grandfather and brother passed away at home with family and under Mercy Hospice care. The good Lord gave him 71 years on earth to enjoy life. Mass of Resurrection for Wayne will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. Matthew Kraemer celebrating the Mass. Military Honors will be accorded by the Neathery-Simensen Post #756, Devils Lake Veterans of Foreign Wars and the North Dakota Military Funeral Honors Team. Burial will be in the Devils Lake Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Friday, October 11th from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary and Scripture Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation on Saturday will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral service. Wayne was born on February 2, 1942 to Charles and Rita (Forester) Fee in Aberdeen, Washington. At 1 year of age they moved to the Forest River area of North Dakota where they lived for 12 years. He attended Fee/Opps school through 8th grade and decided high school wasn’t for him so he worked with area farmers, on the pipeline and spending winters in California building racing boats and working at Pacific Stamping Manufacturing. At age 21, Wayne joined the United States Army and served at Fort Carson, CO from 1963 to 1965 where during that time he earned his GED. Upon returning home, he attended Hanson’s Welding in Fargo then Lake Region State College’s Construction Technician Program from 1969 to 1971. After graduation, he went to work for Heit Construction then in 1972 he established Fee Construction. He is known as the best craftsman in the Lake Region and leaves a legacy being carried on by sons, Jason and Gregory. He continued to work until the spring of 2012 and was daily keeping a pulse on the business. His philosophy was to “provide personal and professional service and you will have very loyal clients”. He was always thankful for his relationships and friendships he made because of the business opportunities and he leaves his mark with the many unique homes built in Devils Lake and Wood Lake areas. He was a man of few words but it was obvious he was constantly thinking about some project and was able to visualize a finished project with his clients and have them happy with the project outcome. Although quiet, he had many friends and enjoyed talking many hours on the phone. Wayne was not a social organizer, but looked forward to spending time with family and friends. He spent summers on WoodLake and was part of that family for 25 years. He got to live his dreams of going to Ireland and Sturgis on his Harley-Davidson. He was a man of many interests and tried to enjoy every moment of life. Wayne married Linda Larson on October 15, 1971 and to this union were three sons, Jason (Stef) Fee of Devils Lake, Matthew (Tara) Fee of Fargo and Gregory (Morgan) Fee also of Devils Lake and daughter Teresa (Brent) Mertz of Omaha, NE; nine grandchildren Alexis, Jadyn, Hunter, Braden, Genna, Torri and Kade Fee, Carly Fee and Brock Mertz; brother Tom (Sharon) Fee of Vesleyville, ND; sister Muriel (Terry) Stadstad of Grand Forks, ND; aunts Pat Jensen of Grand Forks and Geraldine Forester of Fargo; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Brad (Jeri) Larson, Ramona (Bill) Smythe, Jodie Borgen, Robert Bye, Claudette Larson and Loren (Farin) Larson all of Devils Lake and Ricky (Lori) Larson of Larimore, ND and many nieces and nephews. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents Charlie and Rita Fee; brother Bill Fee; in-laws Eddie and Addie Larson; brother-in-law Mark Larson; sister-in-law Joyce Bye and special friend Mike Brandvold. Serving as Casket Bearers for Wayne will be Brad Larson, Bill Smthye, Bob Bye, Terry Stadstad, Ricky Larson, Rick Lybeck, Ron Nelson and Rene Beauchamp. Honorary Bearers are Wayne’s Grandchildren. Music will be provided by Wayne’s grandchildren, Lynne Webster, Patty Cote and Heather and Thistle Pipes and Drums. Reading the Scriptures will be Wayne’s favorite niece, Aimee Larson. Carrying forth the Offertory Gifts will be grandsons, Hunter, Braden and Kade Fee and Brock Mertz.
