Jason Benedict Feather Sr. “Wambdi Wiyaka” (Eagle Feather) of Fort Totten, our beloved son, Dad, brother, grandson, uncle, nephew and cousin began his journey to the Spirit World on Thursday, October 24, 2013 at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND. He was 37. The Wake for Jason will be held at the Fort Totten Recreation Center on Thursday, October 31, 2013 beginning at 4:00 p.m. with a Rosary, Prayer Service and Time of Remembrance at 8:00 p.m. The procession to Fort Totten will leave at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday from Wal-Mart. Mass of the Resurrection for Jason will be held on Friday, November 1, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Seven Dolors Catholic Church, Fort Totten with Fr. Charles Leute OP celebrating the Mass. Jason will be laid to rest in St. Jerome’s Catholic Cemetery, rural Fort Totten. Jason Benedict, son of Stacy J. Feather Sr. and Marcella Littlewind was born on December 29, 1975 at Devils Lake, ND. Jason lived in Devils Lake with his family and attended Sweetwater School then the family moved to the Spirit Lake Nation in the Fort Totten area and attended Four Winds, graduating with the class of 1994 from Four Winds High School. While at Four Winds, Jason played on a winning basketball team and Jason also won many individual awards as a member of the Amateur Basketball League. Jason attended the Candeska Cikana Community College at Fort Totten. He later worked for Precision Roadways and Close Construction. Jason worked at Sioux Manufacturing as a Safety Officer and Supervisor. He also was a dealer at the Spirit Lake Casino. Jason had a very special talent as a basketball player and also at pool. He was on the first all Indian team to win the Devils Lake Pool League. Jason loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting and playing horseshoes. He loved to watch all kinds of sports. Jason was very kind and so respectful of his family and usually never called them by name. It was always by what you were to him, like Bro, Sis, Aunt, Uncle or Cuz. Jason leaves behind his beloved family. His mother, Marcella Green; his children, Jason Feather Jr., Jace Feather, Victoria Feather, Cedric Bear, Avery Necklace and Tamarah Grady; two brothers and seven sisters, Stacy J. Feather Jr., Calvin Feather, Shirlene J. Feather, Sharon Feather, Valentina Martin, Angela Longie, Amanda Sherman, Robin Green and Eunice Green; grandparents, Cora Iceman and Solomon Sherman; aunts, Lavern Bear (Feather), Bernadine Littlewind, Trudy Iceman, Arlene Krulish and Arliss Krulish; uncles Manuel Littlewind, Delmer Iceman, Darren Iceman and Raynard Iceman, many cousins, nieces and nephews. He joins in the Spirit World, his father, Stacy J. Feather Sr.; sisters, Cheryl Feather and Ila Feather; brothers, Richard Feather Sr. and Milton Green Jr.; paternal grandparents, Charles and Josephine (Adolph) Feather; maternal grandfather, Lawrence Littlewind Sr.; uncles, Lawrence Littlewind, Maynard Littlewind, Delvin Littlewind, Stacy Littlewind, Richard Feather, Gary Feather, Raphael Feather, Melvin Feather and Francis Feather; aunts, Charlotte Feather, Darlene Feather; cousins, Noopah Littleghost, Joaquin del a Paz, Dion Iceman and Manuel Littlewind Jr. Active Casket Bearers for Jason will be Jeff Robertson, Donovan Lambert, Rick Smith, Chad Driver, Fred Longie Jr., Michael Buckles, Darren Iceman and Manuel Littlewind. Honorary Bearers will be Twyla Brown, special friend, the Lambert Family, Clara Brown Family, Helena Littleghost, Elizabeth Littleghost, Stella Cavanaugh, Elaine Robertson, Solomon Sherman, Tony and Vina McDonald, Eric Longie, Cora Whiteman and Cathy TwoHearts. Music will be provided by Tony and Vina McDonald and all drum groups and singers are invited to share their songs in memory of Jason.
