Pearl Lillian, daughter of George and Alma (Posey) Harding was born on January 17, 1926 on the farm in the Juanita/Courtney area of North Dakota. She attended the Haven country school in the Grace City area. Pearl was united in marriage to Alvin S. Rude on September 10, 1943 in New Rockford, ND. She was a hard working farm wife, helping with all the farm chores, gardening and raising her family. In 1969, the family moved to Devils Lake and Pearl worked as a CNA at the Good Samaritan Center for 25 years until she retired. But retirement wasn’t for Pearl and she worked in the housekeeping department of the Comfort Inn for many years. Alvin passed away on April 26, 2007. Pearl was first and foremost a loving, devoted wife, mother and grandmother who volunteered to babysit the grandkids anytime she was able. She loved to cook and bake and you never left Pearl’s home until you had something to eat or shared a cup of coffee and one of her delicious treats. Even while in the Good Samaritan Center, she wanted all of her visitors to leave with a sweet treat. When she had spare time she enjoyed dancing, watching baseball, playing cards and Bingo and occasional outings to the Casino. She enjoyed needlework and sewing and counted cross-stitch. Pearl is survived by her loving family. Her children and their spouses, Larry and Linda Rude of Lakota, ND, Delores and Jim McAllen of Mosinee, WI, Jack Rude of Williston, ND, Linda and Curtis Ruud of Mohall, ND and Jeff Rude of Devils Lake; son-in-law, Wayne Weinberger of Glendive, MT; eighteen grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren; sisters, Harriet Randklev and Gladys House of Portland, OR; brother, Joe Harding of Worthington, MN; sisters-in-law, Alpha Quam of Tolna, MN and Sophie Harding of White Salmon, WA and many nieces and nephews; Pearl was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alvin; daughter Donna Weinberger; three grandchildren and four sisters and five brothers.
