Orville L. Stinkeoway, “Papa O” of Starkweather, ND passed away on Sunday morning, October 27, 2013 at his home. He was 65. Mass of the Resurrection for Orville will be held at the Assumption of Mary Catholic Church, Starkweather, ND on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. with Fr. Anthony Hession and Fr. Matthew Pamplaniyil concelebrating the Mass. Burial will be in the Assumption of Mary Cemetery, rural Starkweather. Visitation will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Friday, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. and at the Assumption of Mary Catholic Church from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service and Time of Remembrance at 7:00 p.m. Visitation on Saturday will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral Mass. Casket Bearers for Orville will be Mike Connor, Glen Weber, Dick Million, Leo Lindenberg, Richard Lunde and Jerry Young. Honorary Bearers will be Roger Pederson and Gil Smith. Music will be provided by Maureen Bertsch and Audrey Myklebust. Orville Lee, son of John and Doris (Lindenberg) Stinkeoway was born on March 1, 1948 at Devils Lake, ND. He was reared in the rural Starkweather/Hampden area and attended school in Starkweather. He began working for Collins Construction as a heavy equipment operator on road construction. Orville was united in marriage to Jeanette Young on June 11, 1970 at Selz,ND. He continued with Collins Construction and they later moved to Park River and Orville worked for Oppegard Implement for a short time. They moved to Hampden for 9 years and Orville was employed by Lunde Implement. After moving into Starkweather, Orville worked at Devils Lake Equipment until his retirement in 2010. Orville served on the Starkweather City Council, was a member of Prairie Winds of Hampden until it closed and attended the Assumption of Mary Catholic Church in Starkweather. Orville was all about spending lots of time with his grandkids. They were his pride and joy. He was always willing help out the local farmers, he enjoyed mowing grass, gardening and spending time visiting with family and friends. Our hearts are heavy, but we know Orville is in the presence of God’s eternal love and peace. Orville leaves his beloved family, his children and their spouses, Doug and Rachel Stinkeoway of Starkweather, Lisa and Pete Bjornstad of Cando, ND, John and Kendra Stinkeoway of Starkweather; grandchildren, Jocelyn Stinkeoway, Adrianna Bjornstad and Brayden Stinkeoway; brother, John “Jerry” and Sonia Stinkeoway of Centralia, WA; sisters, Lois and Frank Zacher of Wilton, ND, Debbie Johnson of Fargo, ND and Marilyn and John Warinsky of Woodbury, MN; step father, Robert Stotts of Devils Lake; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, James Young, Jerome Young and Donald Young of Selz, ND; Joann and Bill Spaunhorst of Abilene, TX; nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Orville was preceded in death by his mother, Doris Stotts; father, John Stinkeoway; wife, Jeanette on January 8, 2011;granddaughter, Raelee Stinkeoway on October 1, 2013 and in-laws, Sebastian and Eva Young.
