Magdalena M. Burgard Woitte “Maggie” 82, of Balfour ND died Thursday, November 14, 2013. Maggie passed away peacefully at the Heartland Care Center, Devils Lake, ND
Funeral Services for Maggie will be held on Thursday November 21 at 10:00am at the Drake United Methodist Church, Drake, ND. Rev. Paul Gunderson, interim Pastor, will officiate and burial will be in the Balfour Cemetery beside her husband and daughter at a later date.
Visitation will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and on Thursday at the church one hour prior to the funeral service.
Music will be provided by Ashley Sitz, soloist and Jessica Sitz, accompanist and congregational hymns, Standing on the Promises and The Old Rugged Cross.
Magdalena Mary Burgard was born March 29, 1931 to Pete and Frances (Geisenger) Burgard at Orrin, ND. She was reared and educated in Orrin and later moved to Balfour when she was united in marriage to Lester Woitte November 12, 1952 in Balfour at the Evangelical United Brethren Church. Maggie was a member of the United Methodist Church at Drake, ND.
Maggie was a cook at the Balfour Public school and summer time cook at Camp Bentley. Maggie was a bus driver for many years for the Drake Public School system. She catered numerous weddings in the Drake area and worked many years at the Drake Creamery.
Maggie enjoyed gardening, fishing, and camping. She collected Dolls, figurines and enjoyed spending time with her assorted collections of birds including peacocks. She took water color painting classes in Minot, was an outstanding cook and caught a whooper bass on one of her many camping and fishing trips. She will be greatly missed by her family.
Maggie is survived by her daughters Correen Golberg (John) Bismarck, ND, Linda Sitz also of Bismarck, and Julie Hochsprung (Rory) of Pick City, ND; sons Randy Woitte of Mandan, Leslie Woitte of Devils Lake and Alan Woitte (Laura) of Ruso, ND and 15 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. She is also survived by three sisters, Barbara Wolf,(Philly), Margaret Fettig,(Edward) and Katie Lemer (Lawrence) and brother Tom Burgard (Betty) as well as many nieces and nephews.
Maggie was preceded in death by her husband Lester Woitte on October 25, 1991 and daughter Arleen Atterberry.
