Terry S. Aronson

Terry S. Aronson, longtime Farmers Union Insurance Agent passed away on Wednesday morning, December 4, 2013 at Grand Forks, ND. He lived in the Doyon/Devils Lake area and was 71. Funeral Services for Terry will be held on Monday, December 9, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Devils Lake with Rev. Don Reynolds officiating. Burial will be in the Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery, rural Doyon. Visitation will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Sunday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Time of Remembrance and Prayer at 7:00 p.m. Visitation on Monday will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral service. Terry Selmer, son of Selmer and M. Genevieve “Gen” (Oliver) Aronson was born on June 26, 1942 at Devils Lake, ND. He lived with his family in Doyon and attended school in Doyon. Terry graduated from Crary High School with the class of 1960. As a senior, Terry was a player on the 1960 State Class C Basketball Championship Team, the Crary Cardinals. Terry earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Education, majoring in history, from Mayville State Teacher’s College and taught and coached basketball at Crary for a time. Terry then began an almost 50 year career as a Farmers Union Insurance Agent in North Dakota. Terry was united in marriage to Rosella Ginther on August 22, 1964 at Crary. They lived for a time in Devils Lake, Langdon and Crary but Terry made the family farm at Doyon his home for most of his years. He farmed for many years along with his insurance business but had moved to Devils Lake and was now farming with his son, Todd and son-in-law, Daryn mostly a behind the desk farmer with words of advice, but always confident and proud of his children and their abilities to get the job done. Terry was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Doyon and the Devils Lake Eagles and Elks Lodges. He was dedicated to serving his insurance clients with knowledge and expertise. When there was off-time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing with family and friends. He was by far, the proudest member of “AZO Adventures”. These wild excursions with his granddaughters were his most precious and most treasured days of this life. Memories of good times that will be held close to their hearts forever. Terry was a dedicated agent, devoted father and grandfather and dear friend to many. He will be so very missed. Terry’s loving family includes his children Kim and her husband Daryn Zinke of Crary, Todd Aronson and his wife Rochelle also of Crary and Michelle and her husband Wayne Olson of Fosston, MN; granddaughters Dana Zinke and Andrea Zinke, Taylor Aronson and Brooke Aronson; Abby Olson and Emma Olson and great grandson James Daryn Walford; mother of their children Rosella Aronson of Doyon; brothers Trent (Lou) Aronson of Bismarck, ND, Tracy (Jackie) Aronson of Crary and sister Twyla (Leo) Boyle of Devils Lake; special friend Susan Kjelland of Devils Lake and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Selmer and Gen. Serving as Casket Bearers for Terry will be Art Rohr, Armen Hanson, Rick Tronson, Darwin Peterson, Bryan Hannesson and Travis Schwab. Honorary Bearers will be all of Terry’s insurance clients served through the years. Music will be provided by High Plains Trio, congregational hymns and Lynda Pearson, organist
