Graveside services will be held for Nico Ross of Fort Totten who passed away on December 2, 2013 at the age of 24 on Saturday, June 7, 2014 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Jerome’s Catholic Cemetery, rural Fort Totten. All are welcome to attend and a meal will be served at the Crow Hill Recreation Center following the burial.
Nico Jay Ross, 24 of Fort Totten, ND our beloved son, brother, grandson, uncle, nephew and cousin passed away at his home on Monday, December 2, 2013.
The Wake for Nico will be held at the Fort Totten Recreation Center on Monday, December 9, 2013 beginning at 5:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 8:00 p.m. The procession to Fort Totten will leave on Monday at 4:30 p.m. from Wal-Mart.
Funeral Services for Nico will be held on Tuesday, December 10th at 10:00 a.m. also at the Fort Totten Recreation Center with Fr. Charles Leute OP officiating. Nico will be laid to rest in St. Jerome’s Catholic Cemetery in the spring.
Serving as Casket Bearers for Nico will be Jordan Azure, Calvin Feather, Jeremy Meade, Benjamin Chopper, Austin LaVallie and Sheldon Dogskin.

Nico Jay, a bundle of joy, to his parents Curtis Ross and Theresa TwoHearts was born on September 30, 1989 at Mercy Hospital, Devils Lake. He lived most of this life on the Spirit Lake Nation in Fort Totten. For a time he made his home in South Dakota with his Dad. He attended Four Winds School and played on the Four Winds Basketball team. He was working towards his GED at Little Hoop Community College.
He worked with J&A Insulation and Precision Roadways during the construction season. Most recently Nico was employed with Lauinger Grain Bin Construction.
Nico loved the game of basketball and enjoyed time on the court with his friends whenever he could.
We mourn and are so sad as we say good-bye to Nico. We place him in God’s arms and we will keep Nico’s memory in our hearts forever.
Nico’s loving family includes his father, Curtis Ross; sisters Nellie RedOwl and Kristen Ross; brother Curtis RedOwl; grandmothers Anna Woods and Evelyn Ross; grandfather Christopher Alberts; nieces Misty and Hailie Keo; Alyssa and Aaliyah IronHeart; Kailyn and Kaleah RedOwl; nephews Keandre Anderson, Dominic Dogskin, Nikolai Dogskin and Braedon Howard; aunts Juanita Maye, Theodora Maye, Budene Eback, Colleen Cook, Mary Ann BlackBull, Rowena Ross and Elaine Sherman; uncles Edward LaVallie, Antoine LaVallie IV, Tyrell Alberts, Glenn Ross and Peter Ross; special nieces Jerzey Malaterre and Ariana IronHeart.
Nico was preceded in death by his mother Theresa TwoHearts on April 21, 2005; brother Terrance Michael RedOwl; nephew Alan IronHawk; aunt Carrie TwoHearts; maternal great grandparents Rachel and Michael TwoHearts Sr. and George and Alvina Alberts; paternal grandfather John Ross.
