Troy would make Devils Lake his home his entire life. He attended Sweetwater Elementary School and graduated from Devils Lake Central High School with the class of 1981. In high school he participated in wrestling and football. He continued his education at Lake Region Junior College. Troy worked at various jobs in the Lake Region but for many years and seasons in road construction. At the time of his death he was employed at Home of Economy and Kraft’s Tree and Stump Removal. Troy was united in marriage to Jessica Steinhaus on July 23, 2011 at the First United Methodist Church. They established their home in Devils Lake. Troy loved the outdoors and those events that took place in the outdoors such as; NHRA (National Hot Rod Association) Racing; Minnesota Viking football games and tailgating and no matter how each season ended, Troy was always the ever loyal fan, through the good and the bad times; those special summer nights around the campfire or in the light of the setting sun or rising moon. He loved music, 80’s rock, country-western, most any kind played loud and with a beat. He strongly believed in “capturing the moment” and took hundreds of photographs of family, friends and all those fun events of life. He also participated in several dart leagues and pool leagues through the years. We treasure every moment we had with Troy not knowing how few years we would have him as our beloved husband, dad, grandpa, son, brother, uncle and dear friend. Troy’s loving family include his wife, Jessica; daughters, Amanda Anderson and Amber Carlson both of Devils Lake; step children, Alec Brown of Missouri and Shailey Smith of Devils Lake; grandson, Cullin Anderson and another grandson soon to be born; his mother, Arlene Anderson, Devils Lake; sister, Keli Hoffner also of Devils Lake; nephew and niece, Zac Hoffner and Maranda Hoffner; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Gene Steinhaus and Edith Steinhaus; aunt, Alma Pulst; brother-in-law, Clyde Hoffner and other in-laws and cousins.
