Maxine Paul, 54 of Tokio, North Dakota passed away on Friday, December 20, 2013 at Mercy Hospital, Devils Lake from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident.
The Wake for Maxine will be held on Friday, December 27, 2013 beginning at 5:00 p.m. at the WoodLake Recreation Center, Tokio with a Rosary and Prayer Service at 8:00 p.m. The procession to Tokio will leave at 4:00 p.m. on Friday from Wal-Mart.
Mass of the Resurrection for Maxine will be held on Saturday, December 28th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, St. Micheal, ND. with Fr. Brian Moen celebrating the Mass. Maxine will be laid to rest in St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery.
Maxine was born May 17, 1959 in Devils Lake, ND to Matthew Longie and Catherine DeMarce. She was a baptized and confirmed member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church.
Maxine attended school at St. Michael’s Little Flower and Devils Lake. She received her GED and graduated on May 15, 1992 from United Tribes Technical College in Bismarck with a degree in Medical Records.
Maxine worked as a CHR, at the Tokio Recreation Center for a time and also worked with the tribal summer youth program.
She was united in marriage to Melvin G. Paul in 1992. They made their home in the Tokio area.
Maxine loved to play BINGO and watching her grandchildren. She was always friendly, teasing and making everybody laugh and enjoyed helping people in any way she could. She had compassion for her animals and they provided her much companionship. Maxine was a courageous woman who fought the battle against cancer and was a survivor.
Maxine’s loving family include her husband, Melvin G. Paul; her only son, Brandon Paul; three daughters, Shanell Paul, Nicole Longie and Kara Longie; special granddaughter Daycena Jackson and other grandchildren, Shelrae Longie, Kaylean Lohnes, Kasa Lohnes, Lanae Gourd, Layton Gourd, Kayden Dunn and Joran Longie; auntie, Hilda Weiker; uncles, Thaddeus Demarce Sr. and Andy Demarce Sr.; sister, Bonnie LeftBear; brothers, Doug and Clarence Jr.; nieces, Mary Redfox-Tollefson, Tera LeftBear, Annrell LeftBear, Susan LeftBear, Cathy LeftBear, Roberta LeftBear, Samantha LeftBear, Leanne LeftBear, Alicia LeftBear, Felicia LeftBear, Lisa Georgeson and Jennifer BlackBear; nephews, Damon Greene, Clarence LeftBear III, Blaine LeftBear, Robert Redfox, Robert John LeftBear, Ryan LeftBear, Lanny LeftBear, Marlin Herald, Jeremy Longie and Thomas Longie;
