THERESIA M. EBACK

Theresia Eback, 70 of Leeds, ND passed away on Thursday, January 16, 2014 at Heartland Care Center, Devils Lake with her loving family at her bedside. Theresia Marie (Steffen) Eback, daughter of Andrew and Frances (Kuntz) Steffen was born January 22, 1943 at Mercy Hospital in Devils Lake, North Dakota. She attended school in Devils Lake. In her younger years she worked as a waitress at several restaurants in town. She loved being around people and laughing. Theresia and Bernhard Eback were united in marriage on October 27, 1962. They made their home east of Devils Lake for a couple of years, but then moved to Brinsmade and made their home there until 2007 when declining health issues led them to Devils Lake for a couple of years, then they moved to Leeds, as bigger town living wasn’t quite right for them. Over the years she took several waitressing jobs and worked at Sioux Manufacturing west of Devils Lake for a while. She loved playing cards; Pinochle was her game of choice. Her most cherished possessions were her loving husband of 51 short years; her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Theresia is preceded in death by her parents; brother Louie and sister Clara Jane. Theresia is survived by her loving family. Her husband, Bernhard of Leeds, ND; daughters, Laurie (Mike) Galbraith, Brinsmade, ND, Barb (Tim) Freund, Brocket, ND and Gloria (Tom) Nelson, Mooreton, ND; sons, Mark (Beth) Eback, Mooreton, ND and Troy (Stacy) Eback, East Grand Forks, MN; grandchildren, Benny Eback, Minot, ND, Cory Nelson, Bismarck, ND, Erica (Eddy) Pajari, Mooreton, ND, Kayla (Paul) Teeple, Fort Myers, FL, Tyler Freund and Britney Freund both of Brocket, ND, Carly Eback, Mooreton, ND and Sara Galbraith, Brinsmade, ND; great grandchildren, Christine Freund, Shelby and Bently Pajari; brother, Bert (Grace) Steffen, Devils Lake, ND; sisters, Barbara (Bernie) Samek, Wimbledon, ND and Anna (Harvey) Hettwer, Devils Lake, ND; sister-in-law, Lee (Louie) Steffen, Grand Forks, ND; many nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and longtime card playing and coffee Buddies. Mass of the Resurrection for Theresia will be held on Friday, January 24, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Devils Lake with Fr. C.F. Wilhelm celebrating the Mass. Visitation will also be held at the church on Thursday, January 23rd beginning at 4:00 p.m. with a Rosary and Scripture Service and Time of Remembrance at 7:00 p.m. Visitation on Friday will be one hour prior to the funeral Mass. Serving as Casket Bearers for Theresia will be her grandsons, Benny Eback, Cory Nelson and Tyler Freund, nephews, Gary Eback and Terry Eback and godson, Brad Eback. Reading the Scriptures will be her niece, Renae Haman and Gift Bearers will be Theresia’s granddaughters, Erica Pajari, Kayla Teeple, Britney Freund, Carly Eback, Sara Galbraith and great grandchildren, Christine Freund, Shelby Pajari and Bently Pajari. Music will be provided by Susan Eback and JoDee Lagein.
