MARGARET "MAGGIE" SHOREY

Margaret M. “Maggie” Shorey, 86, of Devils Lake, ND passed away on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Center, Devils Lake. Margaret was born on December 15, 1927 in St. John, ND. Maggie Boyer was united in marriage to John “Jack” Shorey on January 25, 1947 at Devils Lake where they lived, worked and raised their family through the years. Jack died on January 5, 1995. Maggie was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas and former member of the Devils Lake Eagles Lodge. Maggie lived, laughed and loved with gusto. She enjoyed going to the Casino as an outing with family and friends and spending a little time at the poker table. She crocheted many beautiful items over the years which she shared with others, and in recent years had very generously donated hundreds of crocheted items to the First Choice Clinic for the newborn babies. Maggie never shied away from politics and always had the interest of the community and its citizens as her priority. The love she had for her grandchildren, the special gift and blessing they were from her children, could not be measured. She loved her God and practiced the virtues of faith, love, charity and forgiveness. She had so much love to share. Our beloved Maggie will be so missed, but we will treasure our memories.
