Daniel J. Jetty, 48 of Devils Lake formerly of St. Michael, ND peacefully passed away at his home on Wednesday, January 22, 2014.
Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in St. Michael, ND with Father Brian Moen and Father Charles Leute OP concelebrating the Mass. Daniel will be laid to rest in St. Michael’s Cemetery in the spring.
Visitation will also be at the church on Monday, January 27th from 5:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. with a Rosary and Scripture Service at 7:00 p.m. The procession to St. Michael will leave on Monday at 4:00 p.m. from Wal-Mart.
Serving as Casket Bearers for Daniel will be Mitchell Omen, Terry Baker, Glen Belgarde Jr., R.J. Jetty, Champ Delorme, Ricky Walter Jr., Keith Idland and Brandon Idland. Honorary Bearers will be all of Danny’s dear family and many friends.
Music will be various songs and hymns by the following individuals, Keith Idland, Terry Baker, Alvin Poitra, Sandy Poitra, Sherry Keplin and Patty Allery.
Daniel James, son of Oliver Raymond Jetty Sr. and Sarah Mae Baker Jetty was born on September 16th, 1965 at Devils Lake, ND. He was the youngest of twelve children. He grew up and lived in the St. Michael area almost his entire life.
Daniel attended elementary school at St. Michael and also Prairie View School in Devils Lake. He went to Devils Lake Central Middle School and graduated from Warwick High School. He attended Barber College in Watertown, SD. While in South Dakota, Daniel entered Blue Cloud Abby from 1986 until 1989 and was studying to become a brother in the Catholic Church. He returned home to care for his Mom and Dad.
He worked for the CHR Program, Tribal Health, IHS, Sioux Manufacturing Company and then for 15 years he was the Risk Manager for the Spirit Lake Casino and Resort.
Daniel loved to cook and visit his family and friends. He was very well-known for his love of country music and fiddle tunes. Danny always enjoyed sharing his talent of jigging and waltzing at any celebration. He had a very kind and generous nature and helped anyone he could. Danny was a baptized, confirmed and lifelong member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church where he attended Mass weekly. He also enjoyed membership in the Devils Lake Elks Lodge.
Daniel is survived by his brothers, Raymond (Faye) Jetty Jr., Steve Jetty, Stanley Jetty, Roger Jetty and Thomas (Debbie) Jetty; sisters, Alice (Dallas) DogSkin, Mary Lou Fallis, Janice (Keith) Idland and Jeanette(Cowboy) Lawrence; special nephew, Daris Jetty who he thought the world of and many aunts and uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Olivia Mae Jetty and Sarah Ann Jetty and nephew Joseph A. Jetty and niece, Laura Jetty.
