Irene Eng of Devils Lake, ND passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at Heartland Care Center, Devils Lake in the loving care of family. Funeral Services for Irene will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Devils Lake with Rev. Jeff Nicla officiating. Irene will be laid to rest in the Devils Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Friday from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Visitation on Saturday will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral service. Irene Mae was born on June 5th, 1927 to William and Marie (Fish) Schemionek at Loma, ND, where she was raised and educated. Irene married the love of her life, Albert O. “Bob” Eng on October 10, 1947 at St. Olaf Lutheran Church. They made their home in Devils Lake for the remainder of their years. Irene spent many hours in her yard and garden, they were her pride and joy. She received “Yard of the Week” several times throughout the years. Irene also loved to volunteer at the Senior Center and St Olaf Church where she also taught Sunday School for many years. She also enjoyed membership in the VFW Auxiliary. Sewing and crocheting were also a passion of Irene’s and she made countless things for her family. She loved to cook and entertain company and always kept family and friends well fed. Irene is survived by her daughters, Debby (Dave) Pic and Brenda (Gerald) Kenner all of Grand Forks, ND; four grandchildren, Sean (Pam) Lovin, Tricia (Kevin Kraft) Lovin, Jason (Suzie) Kenner all of Devils Lake and Kim Kenner of Missoula, MT; seven great grandchildren, Destiny, Leah, and Carson “Little Albert” and Christopher, Samantha, Lance and Jeani; four great great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Ann Schemionek and Ilene Schemionek both of Devils Lake and many nieces and nephews. Irene was preceded in death by her parents; husband Albert on October 15, 1981; twin brothers Frank and Francis and brother Bill; sisters Mavis Schemionek, Shirley Schemionek and Wilma Baker; great great granddaughter Jazlynn Lovin. Serving as Casket Bearers for Irene will be Sean Lovin, Carson Lovin, Randy Schemionek, Francis Schemionek Jr., Dean Fercho and Arliss Bischoff. Reading the Scriptures will be Pam Lovin and music will be provided by Jeff Nicla and Lynda Pearson.
