ROBERT LARS SNORTLAND

Robert “Lars” Snortland, 39 of Devils Lake, ND passed away on Thursday, February 27, 2014 at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND. Visitation will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake, ND on Thursday, March 6, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary and Scripture Service at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, March 7th at 11:00 a.m. at the Tolna Lutheran Church, Tolna, ND with Reverend John Monson officiating. Robert will be laid to rest in the spring in the Tolna Cemetery. Robert Lars, son of Robert and Genevieve (Hunt) Snortland was born on March 25, 1974 in Devils Lake, ND. Robert was raised in Devils Lake and attended Minnie H elementary school. He attended Munich High School and also high school in Rockaway, Oregon. He returned to Devils Lake and was persistent in receiving his GED. Robert worked at Schwan Wholesale for many years. At the time of his death, Robert was working for Chuck and Helen Nelson as the manager of Nellie’s Bar. Robert loved camping and fishing and was just getting into deer hunting with friends and family. Lars is survived by his beloved family. His mother, Genevieve Liberty of Devils Lake; daughters, Larrissa Westby, Rylee Westby, Kylie Snortland and Samantha Lindenberg and son, Tyler Snortland; two granddaughters; siblings, Jeanie Rolland of Minnewaukan, Shelly Fournier of Devils Lake, Toni Liggett also of Devils Lake, Napoleon (Ashley) Fournier of Fort Totten, Karla (Chad) McLaughlin of Park River, ND and special little brother, Derrick Fournier also of Devils Lake; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his Dad, Robert; sister, Mattie Rose Fournier and twin brothers. Serving as Casket Bearers for Lars will be Derrick Hassett, Adam McCloud, Steven Kraft, Jessie Cavanaugh, Derrick Fournier and Steven Myers. Honorary Bearers will be all of Lars’ dear friends and beloved family.
