M. Lorraine Jorgenson, 92 of Devils Lake, ND passed away on Thursday, April 3, 2014 at the Altru Specialty Care Center in Grand Forks, ND.
Funeral Services for Lorraine will be held on Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Devils Lake with Rev. Jeff Nicla officiating. Burial will be in the Devils Lake Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Visitation on Wednesday will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral service.
Margaret Lorraine De Mars was born to Louis and Inga Jenson De Mars on a farm five miles west of Edmore, ND, on October 9, 1921.
Lorraine lived and did her schooling in Edmore. She moved to Devils Lake in about 1940 with her mother and brother. Lorraine was well-known in the working world. She worked at Blough’s Shoe Store for 17 years, a fine Red Cross store. In later years she worked with fine ladies’ apparel at Mann’s, LaVina’s, Rands, and Barkers. She and her husband, Allen Jorgenson, farmed in the Webster/Garske area. Allen passed away on May 24, 1978, and she continued in the farming business. She was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church, V.F.W. Auxiliary, and belonged to the Elks. She was a very active volunteer at the Senior Center. She worked on election boards for 35 years.
She is survived by her two children, Richard (Connie) Jorgenson, Devils Lake, and Lee Ann (Bill) Steckler, Grand Forks, and her grandchildren, Jessica Jorgenson, Kristen (Bill) Perreault, Travis (Bobbie) Jorgenson, Sarah Steckler, Ashley Steckler, and 11 great-grandchildren: Tristen, Adrien, Elijah, Liam, Nathaniel, and Ian Perreault; Logan and Morgan Schrupp; Lakiaya, Khamani, and Amari Steckler.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband “Pinky”, and a son, Jeffery Dan, sister Leah Midjaas and husband Lars, and her brother, Earl DeMars, mother-in-law and father-in-law, George and Helen Jorgenson.
Casket Bearers for Lorraine will be Kevin Regan, Bill, Sarah and Ashley Steckler, Richard, Travis and Jessica Jorgenson and Kristen Perreault.
Music will be provided by Irving Thompson and Kevin Regan, vocalists and Lynda Pearson, organist. Reading Scripture will be Bobbie Jorgenson.
