MONTE A ARMENTROUT

Monte A. Armentrout, 53 of Devils Lake, ND passed away on Sunday, March 30, 2014, rural Buxton, ND from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. Funeral Services for Monte will be held on Thursday, April 10, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, Devils Lake, ND.  Reverend Jamie Desai will officiate and burial will be in the Devils Lake Cemetery. Friends may call at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Wednesday, April 9th from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. and visitation on Thursday will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral service. Monte Allen, son of Harold and Barbara (Hanson) Armentrout was born on June 1, 1960 in Devils Lake.  He was reared in Devils Lake, attended elementary school at Minnie H and graduated from Devils Lake Central High School in 1979.   After graduating, Monte drove a milk truck for Dick Huffman out of Goodrich, ND.  In 1981, due to a truck accident, Monte would be confined to a wheelchair the rest of his life.   Monte moved to Minneapolis where he was receiving therapy and making a new life for himself.  In 1986, Monte returned to Devils Lake and lived in the Armentrout family home until his death. Monte enjoyed fishing and hunting.  He loved gardening and would share his produce with anyone who asked.  He was also into canning and processing his own deer and other game.  Monte especially enjoyed time he spent with family and friends and especially his nieces and nephews, telling stories and making them laugh.  Monte had to overcome many difficulties and he felt blessed to have the love and support of his family throughout his life. Monte is survived by his sister Robin Huffman of Devils Lake; brothers Mark Armentrout and his wife Penny also of Devils Lake, Bradley Armentrout of Minnewaukan, ND and Todd Armentrout of Maddock, ND; nieces and nephews JC Armentrout, Terry Armentrout, Mike Armentrout, Jackie Armentrout; Kirwin Huffman, Jessie Huffman, Tiara Huffman; Josh Armentrout, Kayla Armentrout; Alyssa Armentrout; Justin Armentrout; aunts and uncles Bruce and Barbara Hanson, San Diego, CA, Delores Common, Grand Forks, Norma Skramstad, Devils Lake, Rose Armentrout, St. Paul, MN, Delores Armentrout, TX and Mary Beth Armentrout, Devils Lake several great nieces, great nephews and cousins.  He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Jim Armentrout, Terrance Lee “Terry” Armentrout and Harold Howard Armentrout; sister Roxanne Kay Armentrout; nephew Jason Huffman; grandparents and several aunts and uncles.  Honorary Bearers for Monte will be Mike Brickley, Bill Thomas, Dale Ellison, Mike Hassett, Chad Getscher and Gedas Sutas.  Friends may sign the online register book and share memories of Monte at www.gilbertsonfuneralhome.com
