Clifford Edward, son of Clifford and Ruth (Herald) Monteith was born on September 12, 1960 at Fort Totten, ND. He grew up in the Woodlake area and attended school at Little Flower in St. Michael, Warwick Public School and also Devils Lake Central High School.
He loved to travel and was “on the road” many years of his life. He lived in several places in North Dakota including the Spirit Lake Nation, Devils Lake and Grand Forks, later East Grand Forks, MN and lived out in California for several years.
Much of his work years were spent as a carpenter and in construction. Most recently he had been a heavy equipment operator on the road construction in the Lake Region area.
Clifford was a jack of all trades. He could fix anything that needed fixing, from remodeling a house to working as a mechanic on engines and dabbling in electronics. He helped in the remodeling of several homes and also many new construction projects. He especially enjoyed building picnic tables and many people had special requests for picnic tables built by Clifford.
Clifford was always interested in the well-being of his family. He always showed hospitality to his family, friends and anyone he met. He never met a stranger-everyone was a friend and even if he only knew you for the day, he would help you in any way he could. He wanted to make sure everyone had a good meal and a roof over their head.
Clifford fought hard battles in his life but always felt blessed to have the love and support of his family.
Clifford is survived by his daughter Chantel Monteith-Houle and her husband Dustin of Grand Forks, ND and his son Clifford Monteith III also of Grand Forks; grandchildren Braydon Vondal-Rinde, Aidyn Vondal-Rinde, Brendyn Vondal-Rinde and Landon Wilson Morton; sister Colleen DeMarce of Fargo, ND; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son Wendell Clifford Crying Herd and brother Culver Lee Monteith.
