HAROLD G. BOE

Harold G. Boe, 79 a lifetime farmer of the Perth, ND area passed away on Saturday, April 19, 2014 at Trinity Hospital in Minot, ND.  Funeral Services for Harold will be held at the Bisbee Lutheran Church, Bisbee, ND on Friday, April 25, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Bonnie Weaver officiating. Harold will be laid to rest in the Perth Cemetery.  Visitation will also be held at the Bisbee Lutheran Church on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Time of Remembrance and Prayer at 7:00 p.m.   Visitation on Friday will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral service.    Harold Boe, son of L.S. and Magda (Odden) Boe was born in Rolette, ND on October 6, 1934. He grew up in the Perth area, attended the Oxford Country School and graduated from the Perth Public School with the class of 1953. He attended the NDSSS in Wahpeton concentrating his studies on auto mechanics and also took a blacksmithing course by Correspondence. Harold soon returned to the family farm and to his passion for farming. He would make rural Perth his home his entire life.  Harold was united in marriage to Judy Guderjohn on June 14, 1959 at the Perth Lutheran Church. His bride would spend the next 54 years by his side; farming the land, raising the boys and making a wonderful life together on the Boe Farms west and north of Perth. Farming was always a family affair. Harold farmed with his Dad and brothers for many years and then with his sons and even after retiring in 1990, he continued his interest in the farming and also was ready, willing and able to help out where ever needed. He enjoyed being one of the first ones out in the field with the job of picking rocks and always knew he had “job security”. Harold was a member of the Perth Lutheran Church until it closed and then of the Bisbee Lutheran Church. He also enjoyed membership in the Sons of Norway. For over 30 years, Harold and Judy wintered in Texas and Arizona. This decision soon led them to membership in the Family Motor Coach Association-the North Dakota Chapter called the “Ramblin Nodaks”. They loved traveling around North Dakota and the United States in their motor home and even made a very memorable trip to Alaska. They left the land occasionally and enjoyed a few vacation cruises in their retirement.  Harold enjoyed woodworking and was a member of the “Lefse Team”. This was another “family affair” that kids and grandkids got to participate in as they learned many techniques of rolling lefse from Harold. Harold was a faithful loving husband and a proud loving Dad and Grandpa. He was a good steward of the land entrusted to him and was thankful for all of the many blessings in his life. Harold is survived by his wife Judy; sons and daughters-in-law Scott and Sharon Boe of Perth and Tracy and Sandy Boe of Mylo, ND; eight grandchildren Jenny (Henry) Campos, Katie (Nathan) Reineke; Cassie (Kris) Brown, Taylor Boe, Carly Boe; Jessica Lawler, Britta Boe and Kelsey Boe; six great grandchildren Dylen Campos, McKenna, Morgan and Nora Reineke, Adley and Emberly Brown; brother and sisters-in-law Sidney and Rita Boe of Perth, Mary Boe also of Perth and Dorothy Gustafson of Rolla; several nieces, nephews and their families and cousins. Harold was preceded in death by his parents; son and daughter-in-law Tom and Leonie Boe; brother; Oliver Boe; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law Cecelia Boe, Betty Boe and Terry Guderjohn and niece Kari Boe. Serving as Casket Bearers for Harold will be his nephews Kenny Boe, Danny Boe, Jim Boe, Marc Boe, Luke Guderjohn and Joel Guderjohn. Music will be provided by Peggy Hendrickson and Lori Kurtti.
