JERRY L. NASS

Jerry L. “Buffy” Nass, 62 of Devils Lake formerly of Cando, ND passed away on Monday, April 21, 2014 at his home.  Funeral Services for Jerry will be held on Friday, April 25, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake with Pastor Jeff Kapelle officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday from 3:00 p.m. until time of service.  Graveside Services for Jerry will be on Saturday, April 26th at 11:00 a.m. at the IOOF Cemetery in Cando, ND.  Jerry Lynn, son of Lynn and Dorothy (Henke) Nass was born on February 27, 1952 in Cando, ND where he was raised and educated, graduating from Cando High School. He later attended the Fargo Barber School.  Jerry returned to the Cando area and farmed for several years, then found his true calling in carpentry and construction. He was instrumental in numerous remodeling and new house construction.   He was the owner and operator of JL Nass Construction Company with his former wife and dear friend Holly (Schlepp) Nass for many years, but had to retire due to health problems.  Even with the health difficulties, Jerry was determined to remodel his home, one step at a time, and someday hand it down to his children. He also had started “tinkering” which meant he was trying his hand at repairing small appliances, lawn mowers and other household items. He also enjoyed going to auctions and collecting those odds and ends you might need. He always had an impressive garden and never missed a chance t go fishing with family and friends.  The most precious days in his life were those spent with his children and grandchildren. He was so proud of them and loved them with all his heart.   As an animal lover, his dog “Diesel” was his constant companion.  Jerry is survived by his loving family and friends. Daughters, Stacy (Louis Bruskin) Nass, Seattle, WA, Misty (Justin) Marsh and Lyndi Nass all of Devils Lake; son Jerod Nass, step son Aeric Orvedal and his mother Dorothy Kannas all of Devils Lake; five grandchildren Bendid Bruskin; Grant Marsh; Kason Close; Lillian Nass; Alekzander Orvedal and grandchild number six soon to be born; brother Danny (Lori) Nass, Williston, ND; sister Linda (Larry) Orvedal, Cando, ND; Stacy’s mother Candy Botz of Arizona; Misty, Lyndi and Jerod’s mother Merrie Nass of Devils Lake and Holly Nass, Devils Lake and her son Justin Schlepp of South Dakota; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and in-laws.  He was preceded in death by his father, Lynn.  Serving as Casket Bearers for Jerry will be Randy Nass, Calvin Nass, Riley Nass, Aeric Orvedal, Gary Schuler, Jaime Jacksen and Dave Slaama. Honorary Bearers will be Jerod Nass, Danny Nass, Rod Lundeby, Brad Armey, Wayne Jensen, Dan Scott, Larry Fox, Joey Wallace, Robert Scott, Mike Ebertz and his many friends and family.
