Edward Charles “Charlie”John, 64 of rural St.Michael,ND passed away on Monday, June 16, 2014 at his home. Visitation will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake,ND on Friday, June 20, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary and Scripture Service at 7:00 p.m. Mass of the Resurrection for Edward will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in St. Michael, ND. Fr. Brian Moen will celebrate the Mass and Edward will be laid to rest in St. Michael’s Cemetery. The procession to St. Michael’s Catholic Church will leave at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday from the Gilbertson Funeral Home. Family invites everyone to share a meal with them following the burial on Saturday at St.Michael and please no gifts for a give-away. Thank you for your prayers and support in these very difficult and sad days. Edward Charles, son of Edward and Marjorie (John) Jones was born on April 20, 1950 in Fairbanks, Alaska. He was a member of the Doyon limited/Toghotthele Corporations. He was raised and educated in Fairbanks and worked on the Alaskan Pipeline. Alaska is where he met his wife Bernice. They were blessed with two sons, Chris and Tony. In 1982, the family moved to St.Michael area, where Charlie livedand worked until his death. Charlie continued his education receiving his Auto Mechanics Certificate at Lake Region State College, Devils Lake and also attended Little Hoop Community College for a year. His desire for more education lead him to attend UND, Grand Forks. Charlie enjoyed music, reading, biking, being outside,hiking and walking, cooking. In his younger days, he enjoyedfishing, hunting and trapping. When he couldn’t be outdoors he was very talented at beading. He never passed up a chance to go to the Casinoand bewith his “buddies”buthismost precious dayswere spending time with his grandkids. Charlie’s survivors include hiswife Bernice; sons Chris (Erica) and Tony; six grandchildren Kara, Dominique, Julian, Mary Jane, Eden and Chaz; sister Estelle Hayer and family; sisters-in-law Mona Cannon (Ron) and family,Ernestine Herman and family, Janice McKay (Carl) and family, Anna Littleghost and family. He was preceded in death by his father and mother Edward and Marjorie Jones; brother Richard John and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Serving as Pallbearers for Charlie will be Boyd Herman, Jason Greene, Denny Greywater, Carl McKay Jr.,MitchOmen and Vinson Littleghost. Honorary Pallbearers are all family and friends, Casino Buddies, Kristy and Johnny Gaking,Cynthia lindquist, Valerie and Lawrence bull, Darlene Wadsworth, Fr. Charles Leute, Spirit Lake EMT’s, Fort Totten Police Department and the Cankdeska Cikana Community College.
