LANNY R RHONE

Lanny R. Rhone, age 77 of Devils Lake, ND passed away on Friday, June 27, 2014 at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND. Funeral Services for Lanny will be held on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Gilbertson Funeral Home Chapel, Devils Lake. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Visitation on Wednesday will be at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Lanny Ray, son of Doyle and Lydia (Ehman) Rhone was born on September 22, 1936 in Wells County, North Dakota. He was reared and educated in Hurdsfield, graduating from Hurdsfield High School with the class of 1956. Lanny was united in marriage to Janice Ekrem on June 16, 1962 at Fessenden, ND. They made Fessenden their home from 1962 to 1968 where Lanny continued to work for the Fessenden Elevator a job he began shortly after graduating from high school. In 1968 the family moved to Devils Lake and Lanny began a thirty year career with Farmers Union Elevator Company. He had been driving a mail truck to Jamestown the last few years he worked at the Elevator and continued that for several more years after retiring. He then began driving semis and grain trucks for Haman Trucking. In his younger years, Lanny enjoyed “farm work” and fishing and now enjoyed fishing with his son-in-law, Bill at their lake home. In Devils Lake he had many lively conversations while lunching at the Senior Citizen Center and having coffee with his “buddies” from the elevator. He always looked forward to trips with the Good Neighbor Club. Lanny never missed a chance to be with his precious daughters and their families. Lori and her husband, Bill Fischer, Fargo, ND, Darcy and her husband, Darcy Martin, Rugby, ND and Dawn and her husband Chad Tollefson, Devils Lake, ND and grandchildren Eric Lee and Brandon Gene Martin and Hayley Tollefson and one great grandchild due in August. Other family include brothers Dennis (Joann) Rhone, Cooperstown, ND and Konny (Judy) Rhone, Watford City, ND; sisters-in-law Lois Ekrem, Sharon (Jerome) Wallery and Marilyn (Ken) Roll all of Minot, ND; several nieces and nephews and their families.
