ALDEN "ALLY" F. PULST

ALDEN (ALLY) F. PULST Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend passed away, Wednesday, July 23, 2014 peacefully at home in Starkweather, ND surrounded by his loving family after battling cancer for twelve years. Funeral Services for Ally will be on Monday, July 28, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Trinity-Bergen Lutheran Church, Starkweather. Visitation will also be on Monday at the church beginning at 12:00 noon until time of service. Burial will be in Trinity-Bergen Cemetery, rural Starkweather. Ally was the youngest child of Arthur and Sadie (Timm) Pulst born on July 30, 1934, and raised on the Pulst Homestead near Starkweather. He graduated from Starkweather High School and attended Mason City Auctioneering Academy in Iowa. He married his one true love and soulmate, Audrey Vance, on January 20, 1955. They made their home on the family farm until their retirement in 1995. In addition to farming, Ally also worked as an auctioneer and spent several years working on the IBM Missile Site near Nekoma, North Dakota. Ally loved the outdoors and was an expert trapper, fisherman, and hunter of all critters big and small, on the ground and in the air. He and Audrey operated one of the first Bed and Breakfasts in the Lake Region area during waterfowl season. Ally made sure the hunters enjoyed their outdoor experience while Audrey kept them well nourished. He started trapping fox, mink, and muskrats in the early sixties and enjoyed sharing his knowledge with anyone who wanted to learn. He taught many how to hunt and fish, his son, Kim, and grandson, Jr., being his star pupils. Ally loved his family and friends and enjoyed horseshoe tournaments, cabin get-togethers at Wood Lake, playing cards, snowmobiling, gardening, and reading western “storybooks.” Ally is survived by his wife of 59 years, Audrey; four children, Kim (Teri) Pulst of Waverly, Minnesota, Joni Pulst of Starkweather, Susan (Ted) Israel of Ketchum, Idaho, and Peggy Shipley of Starkweather; three sisters, Amy Mosbaek of Devils Lake, Darlene Carlson of Lewiston, Idaho, and Ila Weed of Judd, North Dakota; seven grandchildren, Jill Carlsrud, Adam Pulst, Jason Stienkeoway, Faye Creager, Tyler and Zachary Israel, and Jr. Shipley; and five great-grandchildren Karissa, Abigail, Lucas, Lily and Jrue. Ally was preceded in death by his parents, brother Larry, sister Ardys, and nephew Gordon Pulst. Ally was under the care of Altru Hospice and the family would like to thank Farrah, Maria, Ashley, Amy, and Susan for their wonderful care, kindness, and support. Serving as Casket Bearers will be Jim Budish, Tom Erickstad, Marv Brekhus, Kent Pulst, James Uhlenkamp, Clayton Erickstad, Aden Thorson and Steve Myklebust.
