Arlen “Andy” Wingenbach, 44 of Devils Lake, ND passed away early Sunday morning, August 31, 2014 at Pelican Rapids, MN.
Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Friday, September 5, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Devils Lake with Fr. C.F. Wilhelm as the Celebrant. Andy will be laid to rest in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary and Scripture Service at 7:00 p.m. The Rosary will be led by the Knights of Columbus. Visitation on Friday will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral Mass.
Arlen Andrew was the 12th of 13 children born to Emil and Florence (Gustin) Wingenbach on October 27, 1969 at Bismarck, ND. He was raised on the family dairy farm south of Carson and educated in the Carson Public School System. He completed his Bachelor of Science Degree at Dickinson State University.
Andy began his 24 year career at Natural Resources Conservation Service in New England, ND and went on to work in Ashley, McClusky, Minot, Forman, Towner and Devils Lake. At the time of his death he was serving as the Assistant State Conservationist for field operations. He also worked in several detailed positions throughout the country.
Andy was a man of great faith and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing and golfing. He enjoyed sports, following the Minnesota Twins and especially the Minnesota Vikings. Andy had a passion for cooking which was demonstrated through barbequing ribs and generously sharing with everyone.
Andy had a natural gift to communicate with people. He was generous, caring and humble. He loved spending time with his parents, siblings and nieces and nephews. He was charismatic and had the ability to make everyone feel comfortable in his presence.
He is survived by his parents Emil and Florence, Bismarck, ND; siblings Bob (Deb) Wingenbach, Pat (Becky) Wingenbach all of Bismarck, Diana Wingenbach, Dickinson, Debbie (Dwight) Wentz, Minot, Gary (fiancé Laurita) Wingenbach, Bryan, TX, Annette (John) Meyer, Dickinson, Paula Wingenbach, Bismarck, Brian (Lori) Wingenbach, Mandan, Jerry (AriAnna) Wingenbach, Surrey and Dan (Candy) Wingenbach, Jamestown and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents and brothers Chuck and Arnie.
Serving as Casket Bearers will be Andy’s nephews Brady, Eric, Matt, Jon and Austin Wingenbach, Andrew Meyer, Matt and Mike Wentz. Reading the Scriptures will be Paula Wingenbach and Annette Meyer and Gift Bearers will be the Brian and Lori Wingenbach family. Music will be provided by Lynne Webster and JoDee Lagein.
