Evelyn Marie, daughter of Harloff and Lela (Bishop) Valstad was born on March 21, 1938 at Barron, Wisconsin. At the age of 10 she moved with the family to Devils Lake where she was raised and educated. Evelyn was united in marriage to Glen Emil Lindenberg on July 30, 1956 at Trinity Bergen Lutheran Church in Starkweather. They established their home on the farm in Starkweather. Evelyn and Glen moved to Ada, Minnesota in 1967, then to Kelso, North Dakota in 1972. After Glen passed way on July 13, 1972, Evelyn moved to Egeland, North Dakota and later back to Devils Lake where she lived and raised her family until her death. Evelyn worked for a time at the School for the Deaf, but her passion was children and she ran a Day Care out of her home for many years. She also was very active in the Foster Grandparents Program. Evelyn loved all of her day care kids and she considered herself a “grandma” to them all. She loved crossword puzzles, word finds, listening to country music and especially time with her family and friends playing cards. As Evelyn’s family we want to extend a very special thank you to the staff of Lake Country Manor, the Good Samaritan Center and Altru Hospice for the loving care they provided to Evelyn. She is survived by her children Roger “Punky” (Debra) Lindenberg, Crary, ND, Glenda Abrahamson, Darlene (Leonard) Eversvik of Devils Lake and Misty (LeRoy) LaRa, of Crary; eight grandchildren, Lacey Lindenberg, Travis (Missy) Abrahamson, Trevor Abrahamson, Erika Eversvik, Sami Lindenberg, Jr. LaRa, Kennedi and ShyAnne; four great grandchildren Brina, Braden, Ashlyn, Sophia and soon to be born twin girls; brothers LaValle (Nancy) Valstad, Las Vegas, NV, Larry (Irene) Valstad, Fargo, ND, Kenny (Lois) Valstad, Minneapolis, MN, Bob (Jennifer) Valstad, Minneapolis, MN and best friend of over 50 years Jen Djosland, Devils Lake, ND.
