Glenn S. Ross, 59 of Fort Totten, ND passed away on Tuesday evening, September 23, 2014 at the St. Aloysius Medical Center Care Unit in Harvey, ND.
Services for Glenn will be held at Dakotah Oyate Lutheran Church, Woodlake, ND on Monday, September 20, 2014 at 1:00 pm. Wake services will be on Sunday, September 28, 2014 beginning at 5:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 8:00 p.m. The procession to Dakotah Oyate Lutheran Church will leave on Sunday, September 28th at 4:00 p.m. from the former Wal-Mart. Reverend Larry Thiele, Bishop Michael Cole and Pastor Branden Wegener will officiate. Burial will be at the Ross Family Cemetery, rural Tokio, ND.
Glenn Samuel Ross was born to the late Peter Ross Sr. and Evelyn F. Mazakahomni Ross on September 1, 1955 at Devils Lake, ND.
Glenn attended school at Fort Totten and graduated with the Class of 1975. Glenn was the salutatorian of his graduation class.
He worked at Tokio Head Start in 1992 and then later worked in Rosebud, SD, in 1994 as the Director of the Head Start Program. Glenn lived on the Spirit Lake Reservations doing various jobs until his health issues prevented him from working. Glenn resided at the Norma Rainbow Elderly Complex in Fort Totten, ND up until his death.
Glenn enjoyed playing the guitar and was a gifted guitarist. He was also fluent in his native Dakota language.
Glenn is survived by his mother Evelyn F. Ross, Sheyenne, ND; sisters Mary Ann BlackBull, Minneapolis, MN, Audrey Ross, Tokio, ND and Elaine Sherman, Fort Totten, ND; brothers Curtis Ross, McVille, ND, Peter Ross Jr., Tokio, ND, Tyrone Ross, Bismarck, ND, and Bishop Michael Cole, Grand Forks, ND; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Peter John Ross Sr.; nephew Nico Ross; grandchildren Allen IronHawk, NyCoy Paulson; grandparents George and Christine Stone Ross, James and Anna Sipto Mazakahomni, George and Verna Chaske, Lilly IronMan, Donald and Beatrice Pratt.
Casket bearers for Glenn will be Darin Ross, Tyrone Ross, Audrey Ross, Winona Ross, Calum Sherman, Joseph Sherman and Skye Sanchez.
