June Marjy Julian, 96 of Devils Lake formerly of Albuquerque, New Mexico passed away on Friday, October 17, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Center, Devils Lake.
June Marjy, the daughter of Kenneth and Lucile (Wood) Crawford, was born on June 11, 1918 at La Junta, Colorado. She spent her younger years with the family in Pueblo, CO and they later moved to Albuquerque where she graduated from High School with the class of 1936.
June was united in marriage to Marshal Julian on November 24, 1938 in Bernalillo, New Mexico. Marshal worked for the Santa Fe Railroad, as did June’s father Kenneth, and June’s grandfather. Because of his work, the family lived in several places throughout the United States, including El Paso, TX and Topeka, KS. Marshal would later serve his country in World War II and the Korean War, again the family would live at Fort McCoy, Wisconsin and Fort Benjamin Harrison in Indianapolis, IN.
Eventually, their work would take them back to Albuquerque where June worked as an accounting technician for the Corps of Engineers for over 27 years, retiring in 1978. After retiring, June and Marshal traveled the country in their RV. As a special gift to their grandchildren, each one was given the chance to travel across the country with them.
June had so very many talents, such a unique personality and a joy that radiated from her. She was a talented seamstress and sewed matching outfits for she and Marshal for their many years of belonging to the local Square Dance Club. She loved decorating cakes for all the many special occasions of family and friends. She was an avid bowler, and belonged to several different leagues all at one time. Many of those RV trips were to Square Dance Conventions or bowling tournaments. But first and foremost was her family and faith. She and Marshal were always very active in their local church.
Marshal passed away on May 12, 2001 and in 2008, June moved to Devils Lake where she made her home until her death.
June enjoyed membership in the Eastern Star, Daughters of the Nile, NARVRE, ZIA Roamers RV Club, New Mexico Square Dancers Associates and the Elks. She was a committed, active member of the Shepherd of the Valley Presbyterian Church.
June lived 96 beautiful years and we shall miss her greatly, but will hold our memories of her life in our hearts forever.
June is survived by her daughters Margaret Swain, West Fargo and Lucille Donegan of Franklinton, NC; seven grandchildren Marjy Hunter, West Fargo, Marshal Swain, Albuquerque, Joyce (Hilman) Benson, Cando, Kenneth J.
