Sandra “Sandy” Cox, 71 of New Hampton, Iowa formerly of Grand Forks and Devils Lake, ND passed away on Saturday, October 25, 2014 at New Hampton.
Graveside Services for Sandy will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Devils Lake with Very Reverend C.F. Wilhelm officiating.
Sandra “Sandy” Kay was born on October 27, 1942 in Devils Lake, ND the daughter of Oscar and Estelle (Froelich) Bjerke. She attended and graduated from Central High School in Devils Lake. Sandy spent the majority of her life caring for the students at the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks as well as North Star Community Services working with adults with special needs. Sandy was the proud mother of four children, Daniel, Theodore, Kenneth and Kimberly.
On December 27, 1984, she was united in marriage to Larry Cox. The couple made their home in Grand Forks before settling in New Hampton, Iowa.
Sandy enjoyed cooking and baking but loved vacationing at Sakatah Lake in Waterville, MN.
Sandy is survived by her parents, Oscar and Estelle Bjerke of Grand Forks, ND; husband, Larry Cox of New Hampton; her children, Ted (Charlotte) Clark, Kileen, TX, Ken Clark, Urbana, IL and Kimberly (Kevin) Kraft, Devils Lake; grandchildren, Nicole, Kristopher, Kevin Jr., Michael, Nathan and Daniel Jr.; eight great grandchildren; siblings , Linda (Jim) Wagner, Devils Lake, Margaret “Margie” (Jerry) Seeba, Cathy (Steve) Cremeans and Jim (Wanda) Bjerke all of Grand Forks and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son, Daniel “Danny”.
