Irene Schneider Brandt, 94, of Bothell, WA passed away peacefully October 13, 2014 at a local rest home in the care of Hospice. Irene’s last days were spent with her loving family by her side.
Irene was born on July 21, 1920 in Fairdale, ND. She graduated from Fairdale High School in 1938. She was united in marriage to John J. Schneider of Loma, ND on December 27, 1938. They were the parents of four children.
In 1945 they moved to Esmond, ND where they owned and operated a grocery store. John and Irene moved to Devils Lake, ND in 1952. Irene was employed by Piggly Wiggly, National Tea and the Devils Lake Water Department, until her retirement. Irene’s husband John passed away on July 10, 1977.
On February 14, 1980 Irene was married to Albert “Ole” Brandt of Upham, ND. They resided in the close knit community of Upham…all of Ole’s family welcomed Irene with open arms. They enjoyed their retirement years, traveling, entertaining and their shared love of fishing. Ole passed away in 1994.
Irene moved to Bothell, WA in 1996, where she resided with her oldest daughter, Audrey (Leon) Halvorson. She spent many happy years with Audrey and Leon. They offered her a loving home and daily companionship. Audrey and Mom became avid “Bingo Buddies”. Irene developed a very special bond with Leon and his dog, Buddy.
Irene was a social person and deeply loved her family and friends. She was a very busy lady…crocheting, knitting, cooking, baking, gardening, canning, playing cards and games and fishing. She lived a full wonderful life!!!
Irene was a devout Catholic. A woman of faith and lived by the Golder Rule…”Do unto others as you would have them do unto you”.
Irene is survived by her four children Arthur Schneider, Grand Rapids, MI, Audrey (Leon) Halvorson, Bothell, WA, Karen (Joe) Dunn, Bemidji, MN and Richard (Cheri) Schneider, Allen, TX; half brother Carl “Bill” Omdalen and wife, Peggy, Vergas, MN; stepson Roger (Lila) Brandt, Brewster, WA; twelve grandchildren; twenty-five great grandchildren; eleven great great grandchildren.
Irene is preceded in death by her husbands; parents and step father; two step brothers and one grandson.
A Memorial Service and interment will be in Devils Lake, ND in the summer of 2015.
