Daniel K. Yali, 19 of Crary, ND passed away at his home Friday, November 7, 2014.
Funeral Services for Daniel will be held on Friday, November 14, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Devils Lake with Rev. Jeff Nicla officiating.
Visitation will be at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and visitation on Friday will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral service.
Daniel Kevin, son of Kevin and Renae (Brandvold) Yali was born in Devils Lake, ND on March 6, 1995. He would live with his family in Crary, ND his entire life.
Daniel attended Sweetwater Elementary School in Devils Lake and graduated from Devils Lake High School with the class of 2013. He was very active in the JROTC Program and received the rank of Captain.
Big D had an unbelievable talent as an artist, sculptor and creator of many beautiful art pieces. He used pencil, paint and did a self portrait in chalk. That particular work won 2nd place in the Lake Region Heritage Center 2009 Student Art Show. He worked with ceramics and wood and loved to draw.
Dan was an avid gamer and enjoyed the challenges of the games. He loved getting together with his friends to play cards.
His size matched his heart. He was a big hearted, kind, caring and gentle giant. His smile and the sparkle in his eyes were always the biggest and brightest in the room. The love and support of his family was ever present in each day of his life and cherished memories of happy days together will be forever in our hearts.
Dan is survived by his loving parents Kevin and Renae and brother David all of Crary; grandparents Helen and David Schuler and Barbara Janzen of Devils Lake; aunts and uncles Kay and Scott Bachmeier, Devils Lake, Cheryl and Tim Miller, Fargo, Duane and Heather Brandvold, Devils Lake, J.R. and Jackie Brandvold, Redding, CA, Misty Yali and D.J. Yali of St. Michael, ND; many great aunts, great uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers Donald Yali, Ernest Brandvold and Albert Janzen.
Casket Bearers will be Jason Voeller, Nick Anderson, Kolby Holtz, Bradley Davidson, Chris Buchli and Scottie Bachmeier. Music will be provided by Cathy Anfinson, vocalist and Lynda Pearson, pianist.
