Helen A. Regan, 85 of rural Webster, ND passed away on Friday, November 14, 2014 at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks with loving family there to love and support her.
Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at 2:30 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Devils Lake with Father Mathew Pamplaniyil celebrating the Mass. Burial will be in Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery, rural Webster at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
Visitation will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Tuesday, November 18th from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary and Scripture Service at 5:30 p.m. Visitation on Wednesday will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral Mass.
Helen Ardele Karn was born on May 28, 1929 at Muskegon, Wisconsin, the daughter of Charles Louis and Muriel (Chambers) Karn. She graduated from Fresno High School in California and continued her education at Mercy's School of Nursing at Valley City, ND, graduating as a Registered Nurse in 1951. She began her nursing career at Long Beach, California.
Helen was united in marriage to Glen Regan on March 5, 1955 in Reno, NV. They established their home on the farm at Webster and lived, worked and raised their family through the years. In addition to being a farm wife and mother of six children she worked in Pediatrics at Mercy Hospital in Devils Lake before serving 25 years at the Lake Region Lutheran Home.
Helen's hobbies included reading, sewing and tending her posies (which Glen has inherited under protest), making doughnuts and playing "Spinner" with her children and grandchildren. Helen loved her children and considered it a joy to raise her children and be a part of their lives. Helen was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church until it closed and was now a member of the Assumption of Mary Catholic Church in Starkweather.
Helen is survived by her husband of 59 years; sons Tim (Agnes) Regan, Maple Grove, MN and George Regan, Webster, ND; daughters Nancy (Maurice) Pescion, Cooperstown, ND, Jill (Dave) Koehn, Minto, ND, Diane Regan, Devils Lake and Colleen (Curt) Schuler also Devils Lake; grandchildren Talice (Kevin Kraft Jr.) Longie, Ryan Regan, Ashley (Jesse Duffy) Regan, Brent (Staci) Pescion, Angela (Adam Retzer) Pescion, James (Jordan) Koehn, Jacob Koehn, Ana Koehn, Aaron (Lauren Sheppard) Gunn, Melissa Gunn, Alex Schuler; great grandchildren, Ariana, Braylon, Kole, Klohe and one on the way; close, dear friend Lois Reardon; sister Shirley Junas of Oregon; sister-in-law Molly Regan, Grand Forks; brother-in-law Donald Regan, Irvine, CA and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter-in-law Sherri Regan; brother and sisters-in-law, Chuck and Grace Karn and Marie Regan and brother-in-law Dean Junas.
Serving as Urn Bearers for Helen will be her grandsons Ryan Regan, Brent Pescion, James Koehn, Jacob Koehn, Aaron Gunn and Alex Schuler. Reading the Scriptures will be Helen’s granddaughters Melissa Gunn and Ashley Regan. Gift Bearers will be Helen’s granddaughters Angela Pescion, Talice Longie, Ana Koehn and Staci Pescion.
