Lorraine Anne Himler
Lorraine Himler, 95 of Sellersburg, Indiana formerly of Devils Lake, ND passed away on Wednesday, November 26th, 2014 at the Maple Manor Christian Home in Sellersburg, IN.
Lorraine Anne was born on January 16, 1919, in Maynard, Minnesota, to Emil & Anna (Larson) Fredine. She lived in North Dakota in the Crosby area and attended various one room schoolhouses. The family moved to the Fortuna area where she attended school and was graduated from Fortuna High School.
Following graduation, Lorraine worked a number of years in Minot. Then she moved to Williston where she met and married John Himler. They spent the next four years in the service while John was training to be a pilot. Their daughter, Melanie, was born in Hanford, California. When the war was over the family returned to Williston, where their son, John, was born. There Lorraine and John operated a café for a number of years.
In 1971 they moved to Devil’s Lake, where John was employed.
Lorraine enjoyed time spent with her grandchildren and friends, and was an avid walker in Arizona, where she and her husband wintered for a number of years, as well as in Devils Lake.
Survivors include sister Wanda Legaard of Fortuna, ND; granddaughter Candace Hinton (Jeff), of Mountain Home, Idaho; grandsons Jonathan (Angela) Himler and Joshua Himler; granddaughter Jillian (Daryl) Fohr; great-granddaughters Natasha Lancaster, Sierra Olsen, Chelsea Muzzy, Peyton Fohr and Tenley Fohr, great-grandson Chad Muzzy, and eight great-great-grandchildren; nine nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Emil and Anna Fredine, sister Arnette Haagenson, husband John Andrew Himler, daughter Melanie Turner, son John “Josh” Himler, and grandson Michael Muzzy.
Services are pending in the Spring of 2015 at Gilbertson Funeral Home in Devils Lake. Memorial contributions may be made to Maple Manor Christian Home, 643 W. Utica St., Sellersburg, IN 47172, where Lorraine received loving care.
