Harold J. Abrahamson Jr., 62 of Devils Lake passed away on Thursday, December 4, 2014 at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND. Funeral Services for Harold will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake with Rev. Rick Lowen, Pastor First Congregational Church of New Rockford, ND officiating. Burial will be in the Bartlett Cemetery at a later date. Friends may call at the Gilbertson Funeral Home on Friday from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until time of service. Harold James, son of Harold and Lois L. (Day) Abrahamson Sr. was born on April 11, 1952 in Devils Lake. He spent a part of his childhood years in Tokio, ND then the family moved to Devils Lake and Harold attended Prairieview Elementary School, Central Middle School and Devils Lake High School. Harold married Marla Smith and they were the proud parents of a daughter Michelle. He was united in marriage to Rose Dinkel in 1978 and Harold was overjoyed to welcome into his life, two more daughters Jennifer and Janelle. Harold had a special talent as a mechanic and worked for many years at Riggin Motors and later owned and operated Honest Abe’s TBA until health problems forced him to retire. Harold married his sweetheart, Cindy Loehr on August 29, 1992 and they shared a wonderful life together until her death on May 13, 2013. Harold loved his work, but when he had free time, he loved the game of golf. He loved playing the game, watching the game and especially being a part of the many golf tournaments held in the Lake Region. He enjoyed NASCAR and he had many fun filled hours with friends, playing cards at the VFW Club and Ye Olde Tavern. Harold was a frequent community volunteer and especially enjoyed being a part of the Fire Department Ice Fishing Tournament each year, doing whatever had to be done to make the day successful. Harold is survived by his precious daughters Michelle (Shawn) Deseth, Glendive, MT, Jennifer (Allen) Johnson, Devils Lake and Janelle “Nellie (Sam) Hanson, Sheyenne, ND; six grandchildren Tanner Joseph, Caden James; Parish Dawn, Joseph McDonnel, Marcus James; Codi Rose; sisters Janice (Lee) Bukowski, Stephen, MN and Sally (Jim) Ward, Tumwater, WA; brothers Ronald Abrahamson, Devils Lake and Ralph (Cheri) Abrahamson Moorhead, MN; sister-in-law Glenda Abrahamson, Devils Lake; aunt Mary Ann Hansen, Fargo; several nieces, nephews and cousins and his special extended family the members of the VFW. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Cindy; brothers Richard and Michael; Honorary Bearers will be his sons-in-law Shawn, Allen and Sam and grandsons Tanner, Caden, Joseph and Marcus, friend Mike Larson and all of his Card Playing Buddies.
