John Allen DuBois, 54 of Fort Totten, ND passed away on Saturday, December 6, 2014 in St. Paul, MN.

A Wake will be held at the CrowHill Recreation Center on Wednesday, December 17, 2014 beginning at 4:00 p.m. with a Rosary and Prayer Service at 8:00 p.m. The procession to CrowHill will leave on Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. from the former Wal-Mart.
Funeral Services for John will be held on Thursday, December 18th at 2:00 p.m. at the CrowHill Recreation Center with Father Charles Leute OP officiating. John will be laid to rest in St. Jerome’s Catholic Cemetery, rural Fort Totten.
John Allen, son of Edwin and Violet (Herman) DuBois was born on July 21, 1960 in Devils Lake, ND. John grew up in the Fort Totten area and attended school at the Fort Totten Community School and continued his education at the Kicking Horse Job Corp in Ronan, Montana. For the past two months, John was visiting family and friends in St. Paul.
He served in the US Army in 1981 and then returned to the Spirit Lake Nation and worked at Sioux Manufacturing, and various jobs including construction and as a roofer and day laborer. He was always a hard worker and took pride in a job well done.
His favorite pastimes were spending time with his children, grandkids, family and friends. He enjoyed playing cards, playing casino games and traveling. He loved to be with dear friends and having the opportunity to meet new people who were soon his friends too. He loved to laugh. We will dearly miss is laughter, his smile, his friendship and his love.
John is survived by his sisters Mary and Jay Robertson, Violet and Burt Robertson, Audrey Greywater, Grace and Darrel Thumb; brothers Daniel “Bibs” DuBois Jr., Clayton and Myra DuBois, Louie “Hopsty” DuBois and Travis DuBois; his children Rosie, Gabe, Shantel, John John, Brandon and Shania DuBois; adopted son Duane Littlewind; grandkids Jayden, Lynsanna and Gabrielle Keana DuBois, Fulton WhiteShield Jr., Brandon DuBois Jr. and Nevaeh DuBois; special friend LaVina “Hoppa” Littlwind; aunts Evelyn Marcil and Bernadine Hager; many nephews, nieces and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Alfred and Mary Rose DuBois, Charles Herman, Grace (Charboneau) Colado; parents Edwin and Violet; brothers Edwin DuBois Jr. and Dale DuBois; children Johanna, John and Avis DuBois.
Serving as Active Pallbearers for John will be Gabe DuBois, B.J. Robertson, Alfred Littlewind, Clayton DuBois Jr., Leon DuBois, Brandon DuBois, Marques Littlewind and Chris Greywater.
Honorary Bearers will be A.J. Littlewind, William Chief Waanatan, Benny Mudgett, Dwayne Charboneau, Melchoir Mudgett, Bernard “Stormy” Rainbow, Kenny Charboneau Sr., Lionel Littlewind, Bruce Littlewind, Austin Littlewind, Deanna Hanson, Gary and Ginny Sears, Paul and Jesse Cavanaugh, Marty and Georgia Alex, Germaine and Darren DeMarce and Family, Delphine Cavanaugh and Family and Waylon and Renita Shaw and Family.
Music will be provided by Verlyn DuBois, Tony and Vina McDonald, Milton Greene and all Drum Groups and Singers are welcome to share their songs in memory of John.
John had many dear friends and if we forgot to name someone please forgive us. It was not intentional.
