Ronald B. Hausmann, 84, formerly of Churchs Ferry, ND passed away on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at Woodside Village in Grand Forks, ND.
Ronald Hausmann was born on November 5, 1930, to Robert W. and Lila (Johnson) Hausmann. Ronald grew up on the family farm near Churchs Ferry, and graduated from Churchs Ferry High School. He attended the University of North Dakota for one year before joining the military. Ronald served his country during the Korean War with the United States Air Force. He served in Seoul, South Korea as an aviation mechanic, and was honorably discharged in December 1954.
After the war, Ronald returned to Churchs Ferry and was united in marriage to his beloved Janis Hansen. Ronald and Janis established their home on the family farm, where they together dedicated their lives to farming and raising their sons.
Ronald was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church in Churchs Ferry until the flood waters forced the church to close. Ronald was very active in his community and in the Lake Region, serving on numerous local and civic boards throughout the years. Ronald was also a life time member of the Masonic Lodge.
Ronald is survived by his wife of 60 years, Janis; sons and daughters-in-law, Jeffrey and Diane Hausmann, Grand Forks and James and Karen Hausmann, Churchs Ferry; 6 grandchildren, Ashley (Tim) Rogers, Trey (Nicole) Hausmann, Ryan Hausmann, Tom (Amanda) Hausmann, Laura Hausmann and Steven Hausmann; and 4 great grandchildren, Jackson, Ezra, Jake and Reece. He was preceded in death by his parents and infant daughter, Susan.
A memorial service for Ronald will be held on Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Havig-Heen Chapel at 4000 Valley Square, 4000 24th Avenue South in Grand Forks, ND. Friends may call the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Monday, January 12, 2015 from 2:00 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. and on Tuesday at the Havig-Heen Chapel one hour prior to the memorial service.
