Roger L. Wilhelmi, 60 a life long resident of Devils Lake, ND passed away on Sunday morning, January 11, 2015 at the Good Samaritan Center, Devils Lake, losing the battle with ALS (Lou Gehrigs Disease). Mass of the Resurrection for Roger will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Devils Lake with burial in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Friday, January 16th from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary and Scripture Service at 7:00 p.m. Roger L. Wilhelmi, 60 a life long resident of Devils Lake, ND passed away on Sunday morning, January 11, 2015 at the Good Samaritan Center, Devils Lake, losing the battle with ALS (Lou Gehrigs Disease). Roger Leonard Wilhelmi was born on April 1, 1954 at Devils Lake, the son of Francis and Irene (Hoffart) Wilhelmi. He was raised and educated in Devils Lake and would make it his home for his entire life. Roger attended St. Joseph School and graduated from St. Mary’s Academy with the class of 1973. Roger started his 38 plus years career with Leever’s County Market while still in high school. He was a dedicated, hard-working employee and was the manager of most every department throughout his years of employment. He continued to work as long as he could even after his diagnosis of ALS. Roger was united in marriage to his sweetheart Lori Ross on October 1, 1984 at Devils Lake and they were the proud parents of Amy, Lisa and Sara. Roger was an avid Viking’s fan through the good times and the bad. His hobby was raising pigeons-homing, tumbling and many other types. He loved dalmatian canines and had several as pets through the years. He looked forward each January for the annual Fire Department Ice Fishing tournament and was always one of the first to volunteer his time and talents to the project. Roger enjoyed membership in the Knights of Columbus and the Eagles Lodge. Roger fought the good fight, finished the race and kept the faith. May he rest in peace. He is survived by his wife of 30 years Lori; daughters Amy (Steve) Gratton, Lisa Wilhelmi and Sara Wilhelmi and friend Mariah LaMotte all of Devils Lake; special grandson Spencer Gratton and his faithful dog, Shasta; brothers and sisters-in-law Larry and Lois Wilhelmi, Gary and Rose Wilhelmi, Kevin and Gayle Wilhelmi all of Devils Lake and Keith Wilhelmi of Sioux City, IA; sisters and brothers-in-law Margie and Ron Possen, Washburn, ND, Pam Wilhelmi, Devils Lake and Cindy and Dave LaMorte, Williston; in-laws Jim and Joan Ross, Webster, ND and Dan Ross, Bowman, ND; several aunts, uncles, niece, nephews and cousins. Roger was preceded in death by his parents; brother Michael; grandparents; nephew Shane Wilhelmi and in-laws Neil and Donna Ross. Casket Bearers for Roger will be Michael, Bryan and Drew Wilhelmi, Stuart Possen, Dave Brustad, Dave Eisenzimmer, William Joel Ross, and Tristan Ross. Reading the Scriptures will be Casey Locken and Wade Hoffart and Gift Bearers will be Jenn Holtz, Samantha Hodek, Nicky Wilhelmi and Melissa Wilhelmi.
