Jerome TwoHearts Sr., 73 (Canté Nupa) of Winterhaven, California was born October 1, 1941 at Fort Totten, ND to Michael Sr. and Rachel (Smith) TwoHearts. Jerome passed away on Friday, formerly of Fort Totten, ND passed away on Friday, January 30, 2015 at the Yuma Regional Medical Center, Yuma, Arizona.
Jerome worked at the Maddock Boarding School as a Dorm Matron and later worked at the BIA Road Department in Fort Totten. He also was employed at the Fort Yuma Services Unit, retiring on November 4, 2003 after 19 years of service there.
Jerome enlisted in the United States Navy on August 31, 1961 and was honorably discharged on October 15, 1967.
Jerome is survived by his sons Jerome TwoHearts Jr., Patrick TwoHearts and Darin Short; daughter Patricia Barley; brothers Michael Jr., Francis, Julius, Bernard and Isaac TwoHearts; sisters Anna TwoHearts, Carolyn WalkingEagle, Patricia TwoHearts, Cathy TwoHearts and Rebecca TwoHearts; nine grandchildren; 27 nieces and 18 nephews; aunt Cora Iceman.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Orlinda TwoHearts; son Jeremy TwoHearts; parents Michael and Rachel; paternal grandparents Joseph and Margaret (McKay) TwoHearts; maternal grandparents Julia Smith and Benedict Sherman; brothers John, Ronald, Timothy and Norman TwoHearts; sister Julia Two Hearts; best friend Michael “Buggs” Thompson Jr; 4 nieces and 2 nephews; aunts Irene Littlewind and Elizabeth TwoHearts Cavanaugh; uncle Raymond Sherman.

A Wake for Jerome will be held at Seven Dolors Catholic Church, Fort Totten on Sunday, February 8, 2015 beginning at 4:00 p.m. with a Rosary and Prayer Service at 6:00 p.m. The procession to Fort Totten will leave at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday from the former Wal-Mart.
Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Monday, February 9th at 10:00 a.m. at the church with Father Charles Leute, OP celebrating the Mass. Burial will be in the St. Jerome’s Catholic Cemetery in the spring.
Military Honors will be accorded by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #6547.
