DAVID DEAN JOHNSON

David Dean Johnson, 44 of Duluth, MN formerly of the Spirit Lake Nation, passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2015 at Essentia Health in Duluth. Visitation for David will be on Monday, March 9, 2015 at the Tekakwitha Center, St. Michael, ND beginning at 5:00 p.m. with a Rosary and Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. The procession to St. Michael will leave at 4:00 p.m. on Monday from the former Wal-Mart. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, March 10th at 10:00 a.m. also at the Tekakwitha Center with Father Paul Schuster officiating. Burial will be in St. Jerome’s Catholic Cemetery in the spring. David Dean, son of Ronald TwoHearts and Patricia (Redday) Johnson was born on February 27, 1971 in Devils Lake, ND. He spent his younger years on the Spirit Lake Nation then moved with the family to Brainerd, MN where he attended elementary school, grades 1-4, then moved with the family the Wahpeton, ND where he continued his education. As a young adult he lived on the Spirit Lake Nation and for the past several years has made Duluth, Minnesota his home working in various jobs throughout the area. David was a talented artist, doing mostly pencil drawings. He loved spending time with family and friends playing cards and board games and just driving around town. David had a loving heart and his memory will live in our hearts forever. He is survived by his mother, Patricia Johnson, Green Bay, WI; step father Russell Smith, Sisseton, SD; brother Deland Johnson, Duluth, MN; sisters Tammy TwoHearts and Rhonda TwoHearts, Cannonball, ND; half-brother Danny Smith, Sisseton; half-sisters Lisa Smith and Brandi Smith also of Green Bay; uncle Roland Johnson; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins also survive. He was preceded in death by his father Ronald TwoHearts; brother Casey Smith; grandparents Mike and Rachel TwoHearts and Jerome and Stella (Redday) Johnson; uncle Christopher Johnson.
