Donnita Theroux, 72 of Devils Lake passed away Sunday, March 8, 2015 at the Good Samaritan Center, Devils Lake.
Donnita Theroux was born on August 29, 1942 to Gwendolyn (Williams) and Grant Pillows in Lawton, Oklahoma. In November 1953 at the age of 11, her family moved to Southern California. She was the youngest of five children. Donnita attended Mark Keppel High School in Alhambra, California. On July 21, 1961 she married Jay R. Sullivan in Los Angeles, CA; they divorced in 1971. Donnita attended Cosmetology School in Alhambra, CA.
In the early 1980’s she moved to Fair Oaks, CA and lived in the Sacramento area until she moved to Leeds, North Dakota to be closer to one of her daughters. Donnita later moved to Devils Lake, ND, where she lived at the Great Northern until 2010 when she moved into the Odd Fellows where she lived until moving to the Good Samaritan Center in March 2015.
As a young woman, Donnita enjoyed doing hair and cosmetology. She also enjoyed playing guitar and drawing, both of which she did quite well. In her later years Donnita enjoyed spending time with friends and family, especially playing 10,000. She always enjoyed keeping up with the activities of her grandchildren and spending holidays at the farm of her daughter and son-in-law. She enjoyed watching Wheel of Fortune and occasional movies with her dear friend Duane.
She grew up in the church, as her grandfather was a Pastor. She knew the love, grace and mercy of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. One of her life’s desires was to see her daughters’ come to know the same redemptive love, grace and mercy that comes from a relationship with Christ. This desire was filled in the early 1980’s.
