Travis was a hard worker and worked as a Fire Fighter in Idaho and Montana. After returning to the Spirit Lake Nation, he worked at the Casino and Sioux Manufacturing Company. Travis then moved to Grand Forks where he lived and worked as a cook at UND and most recently as a custodian at the Alerus Center. As health programs progressed, Travis was unable to work and returned home and was living in Fort Totten at the time of his death.
He enjoyed playing BINGO and trips to the Casino to play the slots. But he most enjoyed visiting with his relatives and friends that he would see there. He was a good “short order cook” and was happy when he could gather family and friends for a meal. He was an avid sports fan, especially the Dallas Cowboys and the Oklahoma University Sooners which he watched when he traveled to Oklahoma, and where he did 49 Round Dance.
