Dorothy Joanne Bragg nee McDonald passed away Wednesday morning, April 1st at the Lakota Good Samaritan Nursing Home. She was 84.
Dorothy was born to the late Charles and Vivian Williams on October 17, 1930 in Minnewaukan, North Dakota. Dorothy married John Bragg on October 6, 1953. John was in the Army for 26 years and they traveled together all over the world including spending several years in Okinawa, Germany and England. Dorothy worked for AAFES, a military service company, for over 20 years before retiring and moving back to Devils Lake.
Dorothy was a devoted military wife and mother and was delighted to spend her later years dedicated to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed laughing, shopping, coffee, collecting mice figurines, football, Dennis Rodman and watching crime shows on TV. She spent many hours telling the life stories of football and basketball players and expressing her disbelief that none of her children or grandchildren wanted to be crime scene investigators.
Dorothy is survived by her children: Kandice Carson, John Bragg, Alvin Bragg, Jodi Schwan, as well as 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, John and one daughter, Melody.
The funeral will take place at 2PM Friday April 10th at the United Methodist Church in Devils Lake with Reverend Lori Broschat officiating. Burial in the Devils Lake Cemetery.
