Leland L. Rader, 69 of Devils Lake, ND passed away early Saturday morning, April 11, 2015 at Mercy Hospital, Devils Lake. Funeral Services for Leland will be held on Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, Devils Lake with Reverend Lori Broschat officiating. Burial will be in the Devils Lake Cemetery with Military Honors accorded by the Neathery-Simensen Post #756, Devils Lake Veterans of Foreign Wars and the North Dakota Military Funeral Honors Team. Visitation will be at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Monday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and on Tuesday at the church one hour prior to the funeral service. Leland Leonard, son of Lloyd and Mamie (Winnegge) Rader was born on September 12, 1945 at Devils Lake, ND where he lived, was educated and worked his entire life. Leland was a dedicated, hard-working employee for 26 years with the Water and Sewer Department for the City of Devils Lake, retiring in 2005. Leland entered the United States Army and served his country during the Vietnam War. After his honorable discharge he returned to Devils Lake. Leland married his beloved Sharon Zaste on July 3, 1975 in Devils Lake. They shared 38 years of love and marriage until Sharon’s death on July 26, 2013. Leland enjoyed spending time with family and friends, playing cards and going to the Casino. At home he was a TV fan of Westerns, Soaps and wrestling and working on his puzzle books. Leland is survived by his loving family. His son Jack Rader and daughter Shirley Rader all of Devils Lake; step children Mary Rader, Starkweather, ND, Peter Denault, and Susan (Dennis) Sollom both of Fargo, Randy (Joni) Denault, Springfield, OR, Kevin Denault, Devils Lake and Raeann (Rex) Overton, Oregon; twenty-eight grandchildren; thirty-four great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; brothers Larry (Pauline) Rader, Pekin, ND, Lowell (Julie) Rader, Washburn, ND and Lyle Rader, Wahpeton, ND: sisters Lyola (Dale) Knutson, West Fargo, ND and Linda Jensen, Grand Forks, ND; several aunts, uncles and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Sharon; step daughters Lorraine McNeely and Louise Bachmeier and a niece. Casket Bearers will be grandsons Jesse Ahoe, Otto Rader Jr., Jackie Rader Jr., Rex Overton Jr., Michael Rader, Joseph Denault and Gordon Rader and step son Peter Denault. Reading Scripture and sharing a special tribute will be Gordon Rader and Donna Overton.
