Curtis Steinhaus was born in Devils Lake, ND on February 19, 1947 to Roy and Alvina (Bartram) Steinhaus. He graduated from Crary High School and went on to work for Nakota Feeds then later Sweetheart Bakery where he drove semi for 36 years with a flawless accident record.
He was at one time married to Linda LaBarre and they were the proud parents of two daughters, Jill and Kristi.
Curt lived in Devils Lake for most of his life and attended Our Savior's Lutheran Church. Upon retiring, he and his dear Diane Ehrlich moved back to the family farm with his parents where they spent time creating flower gardens and keeping the yard mowed "just right." Retirement was filled with the very things Curt loved; spending time working on the farm with his Dad, farming with Albert and Steve Wood and helping to maintain the Crary Cemetery. He could build or fix almost anything and lovingly maintained the many farm buildings. He was most proud of restoring an Oliver 80 Row Crop Tractor, purchased new by his father in 1946.
This February on his 68th birthday, Curt was diagnosed with small cell carcinoma. He faced this latest challenge as he did most, with a firm resolve. He passed away in his home, which was his wish, on April 13, 2015.
Curt was preceded in death by his parents Roy and Alvina Steinhaus and infant brother, Duane.
He is survived in death by his two daughters, Kristi (Michael) Bartz of Marinette, WI and their children, Kali and Keaton and Jill Steinhaus and John Asleson of Fargo, Diane Ehrlich, Devils Lake, siblings Sharon Brien, Fargo, Clark (Lois) Steinhaus, Devils Lake and Conrad (Cheryl) Steinhaus, Hatton, ND and many nieces and nephews.
