Rochelle F. WalkingEagle-Cavanaugh, 50 of Fort Totten (Crow Hill), ND peacefully passed away on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at her home.
Funeral Services for Rochelle will be held on Thursday, April 23, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Seven Dolors Catholic Church, Fort Totten with Father Charles Leute OP officiating. Burial will be in the WalkingEagle Family Cemetery, rural Fort Totten (Crow Hill), ND.
Visitation will also be at the church on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 with a Rosary and Scripture Service at 7:00 p.m. The procession to Seven Dolors Church will leave on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. from the former Wal-Mart.
Rochelle was born on March 27, 1965 in Los Angeles, California, the daughter of Carl WalkingEagle and the late Noma Rowland. Rochelle spent her early years in Kirby, Montana. She attended her high school years in Flandreau, South Dakota.
She married Alan Odom in Wyoming, but later divorced. She had two children from this marriage, daughter Regina and son Joe.
Rochelle was united in marriage to Jeff Cavanaugh on October 3, 2010 and they shared their lives together for 17 years.
Rochelle worked at DTI, then went to Sioux Manufacturing Corp., Spirit Lake Casino and Leevers until increasing health problems forced her to retire.
Rochelle was a very compassionate and loving person. She will be missed dearly.
Rochelle is survived by her husband Jeff Cavanaugh, Bismarck, ND; daughter Regina Odom of Casper, Wyoming; granddaughter Taivyn Odom; parents Carl and Barbara (step mother) WalkingEagle, Fort Totten; brothers Benny Wayne, Jamestown, ND, Curtis WalkingEagle and C.J. WalkingEagle both of Fort Totten; sisters Carlene WalkingEagle-Peltier, Grand Forks and Jessica Blackbird, Devils Lake; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Rochelle was preceded in death by her beloved son Joe Odom; mother Noma Rowland; sister Carlette WalkingEagle; paternal grandparents Tony and Grace WalkingEagle; maternal Benjamin and Florence Rowland; aunt Lisa WalkingEagle; uncle Glen WalkingEagle; cousins William Kazena Jr. and Neil Luger Sr.
Casket Bearers for Rochelle will be Benny Wayne WalkingEagle, Benny Mudgett, Kermit WalkingEagle, Ronald WalkingEagle, Curtis WalkingEagle, C.J. WalkingEagle, Stetson WalkingEagle and Melissa Cavanaugh.
Honorary Bearers will be all of Rochelle’s friends, relatives and family who loved her.
