RICHARD L. RAMSEY

Richard L. “Rick” Ramsey, 57 of Devils Lake formerly of Park River, ND passed away on Saturday, April 25, 2015 at Mercy Hospital, Devils Lake, ND. Funeral Services for Rick will be held on Thursday, April 30, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake with Pastor David Fix officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service. Richard LeRoy, son of Kenneth “Kenny” and Dorothy (Momerak) Ramsey was born on May 1, 1957 at Park River, ND. He was raised on the family farm southeast of Park River. Rick attended Park River Public School and graduated with the class of 1975. After graduating from high school, Rick worked for an electrician and a job with Lake Region Electric brought him to Devils Lake. Rick married Paula Olson on July 20, 1985 in Devils Lake and they were the proud parents of two children Meridith Ramsey of Fargo, ND and Brandon Ramsey of Devils Lake. Rick later worked for AAL Insurance and the Grand Forks Herald. Most recently he had worked at Mercy Hospital until health problems forced him to retire. Rick was an active member of the community and his church, serving on Our Savior’s Church Council and on the South Minnewaukan Township Board. Fishing was a passion of Rick’s since his childhood years and he enjoyed membership in the Lake Region Anglers. He was the recipient of many first place wins and other proudly held place mentions in the numerous fishing tournaments he participated in throughout the Lake Region area. Rick loved the outdoors and his happiest times were spent camping and fishing on Devils Lake and hunting with his family and friends. He also enjoyed gardening and that included planting, to harvesting to processing into delicious meals the produce of vegetables (especially tomatoes) that he grew. Any recipe could vary greatly depending on what was available from the garden that particular day, but they always tasted great. We will miss you Dad, son, brother, uncle, cousin and dear friend but we will keep you in our thoughts and hearts forever. Rick is survived by his children Meridith and Brandon; mother Dorothy Ramsey, Park River; brothers Dave (Jayne) Ramsey, Park River, Robert (Debbie) Ramsey, Andover, MN, Dennis (Barb) Ramsey, Devils Lake and Dean Ramsey also of Park River; sister Rennae Ramsey, Crookston, MN; brother-in-law Monte Novak, Park River and several nieces and nephews.
